I mean, uh...  code that works..  maps that have more evenly balanced play..
weapons, vehicles, sounds, graphics that are better..

instead.... we get special forces.. ???  euro forces ???  hahahahaha...

poor dice.. they just dont get it..

POE mod is great.. love it.. wish EA wasnt so into their stats (as if they actually mean something..)
or else more and more people would play great mods like this and leave the crap DICE gave us in
the dust..

POE is awesome because it has all the fine extra toys we don't get with BF2(artillery system like this, wow!!),but it also has a lot of drawbacks.

The spawnpoints on some maps are right in the middle of the action,I've never seen so much spawnkilling like on that insane forest map.Seems to be the new Karkand for POE-players.

Without the satscan or UAV it's a camper's paradise,on some maps with a lot of dark trees and other terrain the easiest way to win is just to stay put and let them run into your gunfire.

No real restriction of the terrain,at some flags no have no idea into which direction you should look out for the enemy, could come from anywhere.

Excellent weapons, but due to this excellency they pwn so much that you don't have any time to react. When somebody spots you from the side you don't have the slightest chance to turn around, run for cover or even go prone.
Light machinegun campers should love it(when not on the receiving end of the bullets).

I'm gonna play a round of POE now, hope the bad parts aren't always dominating this mod full of great things.

the reason dice cant make mods like po2 is that their too busy making the begginings for the next poe ..
ie they do the initial hard graft with the engine and the 99999999999999999999999999999 bugs which never made it into bf2 vanilla ... now im not a dice lover but it shows such a good job that both dicce and the POE2 guys did to create this fantastic mod

Because EA rush them?

Zerg rush.

Oh no wait, that was Blizzard.

Seriously, the work these guys did was peanuts compared to what Dice/EA did. Like building a state of the art MBT and somebody else giving it another paintjob. I think it's a great mod, but it's more flawed than BF2 ever was, simply because a handful of people (most of em probably only working on it on their spare time) just don't cut it.

And when I say flawed, I'm talking mainly about balance issues with weapons, vehicles and maps. And one technical nuisance I don't experience with BF2 or special forces: Everything is going smooth until suddenly the entire game becomes EXTREMELY choppy and unplayable when I turn into a certain direction (for example, if I face anywhere south to west). Not that bad if that one direction is away from your uncap base opposite to where the enemy is. But if it's exactly where you need to go it's pretty annoying. Seems to happen to every one in three maps.

I'll admit that BF2 isn't perfect either, and right now I'm having some fun with POE, but POE won't last me one tenth as long as BF2 did. The main reason I'm playing POE right now isn't because it's better than BF2, but because lately 75% of all the BF2 servers I get with the server browser are focussed around the three city maps and wake (which is a shame because all BF2 maps are really great in their own way) and I'm suffering from a little Karkand/Wake overdose. I'll probably head back to BF2 in a month or so.

Finally, why isn't BF2 perfect? Because, as stated above, EA rushes things. I remember the time with my Sega Master System when Electronic Arts was just a dog like any other in the pack. But nowadays they're a cold money making machine. It seems that any developer that strikes a deal with EA as publishers ends up dead. Getting a publishing deal with EA is like making a deal with the devil. In the short run you can enjoy the vast resources and pleasures EA/satan can provide u with, but you're pretty much screwed in the long run because you paid with your soul to get the deal.

Well considering that the PoE team just made a great game with more content then BF2 almost for free and with hardly any bugs...I think they win.

Because dice and ea only care about your money.

- Another bad thing is no-one hardly ever tells you where to use arty.

Mainly because most people can't figure it out for some reason. Mainly those that can't read the manual because they can't be bothered with it. Although must probably don't care and play in their scoring BF2 ways even though there are no stats saved and POE2 is certainly not about anything but teamwork. Of course a majority of players wouldn't know what teamwork was even if they got kicked in the face with it. They also don't know that every time they spot every kill that the Artillery guy gets gives the spotter a Spotter Kill Assist which gives them points. oooo ahhhhh.

Hope so.

With the artillery you can scream and spam artillery ready, artillery ready, you even know snipers/spec ops are killing people in a concentrated area, SO SEND ME THE LOCATION.

I had no problems with camping enemies until now, but I have not played that much (did not get through all the maps yet). But Fallen is insane, that is true. Rush from flag to flag in a huge bulk of friendlies and hope you are going faster than the enemy.

While it may be true that campers may pose a problem in some maps or places, I highly praise there is no all seeing eye from the commander. Now you can move a whole squad close to some flag and wait there, scouting the situation and strike when it's best; or move unseen through the woods on a rather odd path, without having to deal with (and by that I mean dying by) sudden arty strikes. I encountered some campers, but they never where that much of a threat.
Side effect of the missing commander toys is, you can take out vehicles more easy, because with no accompanying infantery, tanks are likely to die in my C4-fire

Of course Dice had much more work from BF2, coding the engine and getting together initial maps. They started it, and modding teams drew their inspiration from them. But Mods like PoE2 add much of variety to the game. And lets not forget, the modders do it for free (a little donation to show them some appreciation is never wrong, though).
But the important point is, BF2 is meant to be modded! Dice/EA know where much of the popularity of the original BF42 came from, it's the mods (at least thats what I think, if there weren't any mods in the first place for BF42, I would not have bothered buying BF2, I am a huge fan of FH).

Side effect of the "missing" stats is, teamplay is much more likely to happen in PoE2. Whenever I open a squad, soldiers will drop in, going with me all the way to the end. The players are in general very friendly and chatty (when there is time to chat). Enter some public server and say "hi@all", and you will get his in return.

Ah, one thing I forgot, with the faster killing weapons and the new stealth, the game gets more tactical. Very nice.

PASSION people.....thats what it comes down to.EA/Dice employees are just going to do their job at work where as mod makers have a passion, end of story.

Mj.Blindfisch's rant...
All the stuff you point out there make PoE2 a harder game to play in many cases. More challenging and more fun. Infact, you listed many of the reasons I like the mod.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

I believe they aimed for as much realism in POE2 as possible without removing spawning and bunny-hopping etc, if you were ambushed in real life from the side, u wouldnt have much of a chance either
