Now, the only 'class' that didn't make a whole lot of sense in BC2 was the medic class. Giving them machine guns was kind of If they'd swapped the primary weapons of assault and medic it would've made a lot more sense and perhaps have been balanced better. I don't think any of us appreciate infinite noobtubing.
BF2 Modern Combat started the lmg medic trend. It is a console game thing that transmitted to PC.
First attempt at a slightly altered class system somewhat inspired by previous game classes with some added stuff which I'd somewhat like in BF3 or at least be nearly like this
Recon: knife, pistol(can have silenced versions but they are not as damaging compared to non silenced), assault carbine/sniper rifle/DMR, claymore mines/motion sensor/laser designator(paints a target which makes any nearby friendly bombs drop to the target)/flashbangs, grappling hook or zipline, grenades, additional option is if you want your guy to have camoflouge or not
Medic: knife, pistol, smg or shotgun(medic should have limited anti infantry capability and just focus on healing), longer range medkit/faster healing medkit/auto injector, shock paddles(replaced by the auto injector if you equip that), grenades
Assault: knife, pistol, assault rifle, light rocket launcher(not as good as a pure rocket launcher but at least offers some AT capability)/grenade launcher/ammobag, throwable smoke grenades/smoke grenade launcher, grenades
Support: Knife, pistol(you can have a shotgun or smg with rocket launcher equipped), heavy rocket launcher/LMG, choice of rounds for either lmg or rocket launcher or some attachments for the rocket launcher like different guidance systems whether it is heat seaking or wire-guided, I honestly don't know maybe additional choices of rounds for lmg or rocket launcher, grenades
Engineer: knife, pistol, shotgun/smg or assault carbine?(I don't know which), landmines/c4, repair torch/deployable defensive thing(like sandbags or something), grenades
