To commemorate our 20th anniversary, we will release a deluxe special-edition of music and art, titled Warp20 (Box Set).

The package features new songs, older previously unreleased material from Warp artists, tracks selected as some of his personal favorites by co-founder Steve Beckett and the top ten pieces voted for by Warp fans on Warp20.net.  It also includes a beautifully produced book showcasing the label’s rich design history, along with an exclusive hour-long mix and a locked-groove vinyl set.
So, Warp Records has now been the absolute paragon of electronic's finest for 20 years .

The box set collection is easily one of the best historical collections of electronic music ever assembled, in my opinion. Avid electronica fans will be delighted to hear that the 'Unreleased' 2xCD collections contains some amazing tracks from the likes of Aphex Twin, Autechre, Plaid and Boards of Canada that never made the cut back in the hey-day. Yet, as well as being a celebratory anniversary collection, this boxed set remains hyper-contemporary and incredibly post-modern in its sensibilities. The algorhythmic IDM of the '90's doesn't seem at all alien in the even more electro-friendly 00's- and the classic nostalgic vibes of many of Warp's finest acts find a new niche and new atmosphere in this year of our Lord, 2009.

The boxed set is incredibly well-presented!

The track-listings of the CD's alone trace out a guide through the electronica canon, and I cannot emphatically recommend this boxed collection enough to anybody that fosters even a kindling and curious interest in this incredibly dense and inaccessible area of music. Get it, listen to it, admire the artwork and indulge in it. This is music for thinking to; music for tripping to - with or without drugs - and most importantly, music for dancing to!

Specifically, if there is one thing I recommend, it is the Warp20 (Essential) CD, mixed by Osymyso. It's a perfectly-matched hour-long mix that spans through all of Warp's finest acts and releases of the last 20 years. It condenses the entire library of 20 yrs and 100Gb+ of material down into a single mix that deftly spins its way through about 1 billion teenage memories of mine. Every single nuance and subtle track that is mixed into this swirling eddy of sound completely blows my mind; each one is a different 'phase' of growing up and growing to love electronic music for me. Listen to it!

edit: and I must add that it is one of the most impressively mixed and mastered mixes I have ever listened to. How Osymyso manages to beatmatch the irregular, jagged-curve qualities of various IDM and glitch artists together into one well-blended medley astounds me. Tastefully putting together a bunch of tracks at similar BPM's is tough enough- but this guy effortlessly glides through multiple genres and every spectrum of electronic sound to create something astoundingly cohesive.

Will check it out for sure.  Lots of great artists on Warp.

Some confirmed tracklists here

Eh, just came out yesterday and I can't find anywhere that actually has it on sale.  Torrenting is out of the question because I'd rather have the vinyl and booklets.

Another update:  Unless you've preordered it you are pretty much shit out of luck, as it is a one-off pressing that was largely based on pre-orders.  I'll have fun looking on ebay over the next few weeks, hopefully I won't have to pay too much.  I'll have to ask my electronica friends if any of them got this diamond in the rough.

Saw that while shopping at Aomeba the other day Didn't get it though
I can only handle so much IDM, at least of the glitchy techy variety. I prefer the more melodic stuff. In fact, I would say that the biggest electronic genre I love is IDM, but IDM in the broader sense that it's not dance music but music to sit down and listen to.

It seems you can only buy "Chosen" and "Recreated" seperately over here, so no box set for me. I'll download it though.

I've never really listened to Electronic before, but this seems like an awesome introduction

IIRC it was $15 or $16 (might've even been $20, probably why I didn't get it) for just one of the CDs (They didn't have a box set, but had Recreated and Chosen there).

Amoeba is great for used and OOP stuff, but they're kinda expensive on the new shit. Probably better off with Amazon.

Once again i do have to primarily recommend the big 'Elemental' mix first and foremost. Download it - torrent it - blogspot it. It's a one hour mix and will introduce you, guide you and familiarize you with all of Warp's best artists with their finest snippets. Frankly, after listening to that sublime mix, you should be feeling ready to purchase the 'Unrealeased' or 'Chosen' CD from an online-mp3 store or a hardcopy retailer.

much love xx

'Bout halfway through the Elemental mix. Kicks loads of ass as expected. Love all the different styles, the many twists and turns. Many mixes of a singular genre only go up and down, this one goes side to side as well, it is not limited to one style, one large genre where everything sounds so similar.

Need to find a track listing for this. There are many tracks I heard that I would like to get.

so yeah.

this needs more attention.

im still calling the warp20 one-track mix an absolutely essential listen. for anyone.

forget buying the vinyl box-set; it's really expensive and has mostly sold out. buy digital copies of the 2xCD LP's. you won't regret it.

for actual DJ's and producers. warp's electronic following strays far into the hardcore echelons of electronica- it's not only the casual audiophile

Right. Sweet. The rest is absolutely fantastic though. Although I think Dayvan Cowboy should have been in the chosen disc.
