As of 10 February, Spotify is available to the public without the need for an invitation. Does anyone else use it?

Spotify is a new way to enjoy music. Simply download and install, before you know it you’ll be singing along to the genre, artist or song of your choice. With Spotify you are never far away from the song you want.

There are no restrictions in terms of what you can listen to or when. Forget about the hassle of waiting for files to download and fill up your hard drive before you get round to organising them. Spotify is instant, fun and simple.

It allows free, decent quality, low-bandwidth hogging music streaming. It has thousands of artists all available for anyone to listen to. I'm very impressed with it, and I recommend you check it out. Also, for all our last.fm users (join the trackr group if you haven't yet) it does scrobble what you play.

The free version does put the occasional ad in between a song occasionally (well they do need to make a profit) but it's not that annoying.

EDIT: Okay, nothing like that. This is quite amazing. Downloaded a 1.5MB file, installed in ~5 seconds, signed in, was listening to music (from pressing download button) in about 40 seconds. Good quality too. Not quite as good as stuff I have on my computer, but not far off. Highly recomend.

Best thing about it is it's not in your internet browser, it's a standalone program.

The almost limitless range of music to play outweighs LFM radio, in my opinion.

To those who can't get it, I heard there were restrictions on where you can get it. That's quite unfortunate, sorry

Quite a few of you use this already, but i though i'd make a nice collective thread for it.

For those who don't know what i'm talking about, there's a lovely article on it here.

In essence, it's a free, legal way of playing music, of which there is massive selection. It's nifty 'cos you can access your playlists from any web-enabled computer with the client.

No idea. It's not really for replacing high quality tracks, but it's more of a handy music on demand thing. Far better than streaming youtube. Test it out, it only takes a minute to set up.
