Thpbpbpbpb.
In terms of content, size and lifespan it's very much a "full" game.

People counted CoD: WAW as a new release even though it was a reskinned CoD4 didn't they? UO's sales figures were separate to CoD1... etc.
It's a completely different theme with entirely new singleplayer campaign, and you're comparing it to an XPack which only adds 10 lvls?
Wrath of the Lich King is an "entirely different theme" within the world of Warcraft's lore (just as you'd say CoD5 was different within the 'lore' of various wars- from modern to WWII) and has an entire new "single-player campaign" in the form of 1000's of new quests/'mission's and tons of new dungeons and raids- as I said in terms of actual content WotLK is probably bigger than Call of Duty 5. "Only adding 10 levels" just shows your extreme lack of understanding... raising the level cap is merely a means to advance characters to the point where they can begin to play through the oodles of new stuff. Although, the actual process of getting from lvl70-80 probably constitutes as many hours of gameplay as CoD5 does in total, which is quite ironic considering level80 is just the start of what this game has in terms of content to play through.

Also, to reply to your comment on The Sims: they are all counted together as one. Consequently, the Sims and Sims 2 are the two top highest selling PC games of all time... with World of Warcraft not very far behind.

Woopty doo, that's an impressive feat for the army of valium-doped ADHD kids that enjoy playing Halo. However, bear in mind that Wrath of the Lich King hasn't even launched in China yet. WoW-CHN is fucking huge, like unimaginably huge. You've seen those crazy Koreans playing Starcraft, now imagine that on an Asian scale. When WotLK launches in China it's just going to further put this game on the record-books, shattering everything. The floodgates will open to a continent where farming in-game Warcraft gold is a self-respecting marketplace. Crazy azns.

Easy argument, easier to refute. I don't play, I'm just sick of you and the shit of the gamer community acting like babies over this. Are some people way too in to the game? Yes, but that's the exact same case for all other games and genres. It's more evident for the simple fact that more people play WoW, the exact same reason any stereotype against a popular community falls apart.

By your logic, anyone who buys more than one new PC/console game every 3-4 months is a "tard"...

Why does it always boil down to pitiful amounts of money for you whino's? Are mommy and daddy really that cash-strapped? I'm sure they can put a year's subscription on layaway for you...

Honestly, who complains about a £9/month subscription. I spend more than nine quid a month on paper, it's nothing.

Funny that when I purposefully troll and deride a thread about Xbox360's, all the posts from there onwards are deleted and censored... yet when the typical bandwagon of over-opionated 14 year old console tards and secondary school monkeys jump on a WoW thread in a quote-happy frenzy of frat-boyism and Internet male fellatio, it's allowed to remain... endorsed, even. Pfft, professional moderating standards and objectivity in practice.

It's not so much the monthly payment, just what it adds up to. $15 a month for 12 months is $180. $180 can buy a lot of things.

I ain't living in a penthouse suite with daddy's Bentley on the weekends, trust me.

£9 is nothing. That's like 90 minutes worth of paid-employment, going towards a game, per month. Jesus.

A lot of things like, 5-6 other computer games per year? As I iterated in my first point?

Or Birthday/Christmas presents for your family. Or plenty of other things as well.

What you seem to miss is a lot of people won't want to play the same game for a whole year or longer, which is close to what it takes to get anywhere within WoW unless you play for longer than 5 hours a day. Many of these people also may not get to play for a whole day or more, meaning the money paid for those days is 'wasted'.

It doesn't seem like a huge deal to you (or 10 million others for that matter,) but it means a lot to other people. The fact that neither of these 'sides' can see the others point of view is what causes these arguments.

I think you'll find that what causes these arguments is in fact the relentless over-willingness of the 'other' side to flame on WoW and denigrate its playerbase based on things such as "Lolol they pay $15.00 a month when I'm too broke to even patch up the holes in my clothes" or "Wtfz0r stupid nerds paying a pay-to-play game that my parents refuse to pay on their card for!".

It sounds as though I'm a devout WoW fanboy, even though really I am highly critical of the actual game- I haven't played in over a year and generally feel too discontent with the direction it has headed in to even care for the expansion pack or any new introductions. However, what I will argue against is pointless and mindless bandwagon faggotry, which is always in abundant supply here on these Forums. The cretinous cohort of Xbox360 kids that somehow think their pointless gaming opinion lends itself to MMO's and World of Warcraft, and the 'too cool for MMO' group of people that are far too busy being, err, much 'cooler' on FPS games... all too easy to pick-up on and argue with.

As for the monthly-subscription argument, jeez I cannot believe it is even that seriously discussed. Just lay off the chocolate and have one less Kit-Kat per week and you can fly in whichever MMO world you do so desire... those super-exclusive 'upper class aristocracy only please' subscriptions are really accessible to all with a little bit of self-determination .

And I do think I raised a very valid point with my Xbox360 trolling vs. WoW trolling example. I purposefully led an Xbox360 topic astray, trying to provoke the usual, predictable console-war that seems to crop up in every such discussion. The result? Deleted and completely cleansed from the thread... but alas, the token WoW-hate that occurs to a boringly infinite degree is allowed to stay, and is even participated in by some 'respectable' members of the community. No wonder Trackr will fail miserably, the 'community' are a self-contained cell of gamers doing nothing more than incestuously breeding narrowminded gaming opinion.

What Uzique said.

Also....

Anyone who knows me knows my stance on WoW, i was sceptical of the game before i started playing it just over one year ago. I and others who now play used to give a rediculous amount of bother to our friends who played and we repeated the same worn out 'gay', 'no life', 'wowtard' comments to them at any given opportunity. And low and behold i played it and loved it, i couldn't have been more wrong about a game.

I browse the forums and read the hype about a lot of the games some users here play and in contrast to WoW, they offer nothing except some old ideas with a new face and some bigger explosions. I tried the newest games, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 etc etc.... and in reflection to WoW, they are shit box games that are good for pick up and put down. Thats my opinion, like it or dislike it and no offence intended.
