Yeah Viktor, WC3 as Elmo pointed out, is still a pretty big deal.

Mostly due to DotA, but you have to be initiated into the cult of DotA by somebody other than me. I turned my back on that religion long ago.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

As it actually requires STRATEGY to play rather than just spamming and the like.
CC3 was the ducks guts, and there's heaps of good mods available.
CC4 was ok, but CC5 was the next best.

I played these for YEARS. It helps to be a WW2 nut...

Supreme Commander is pretty much a copy+paste of it, and TA can run on anything.
I left out Supreme Commander because of long, repetitive missions with minimal storyline, performance issues and serious online lag.

Isnt C&C First Decade just a collective name for all C&C games ever made?
Yes. But I'd rather buy all the games separately though, may cost a bit more but then you can mod them.
*sigh* I'd like to point out that First Decade doesn't blend all the C&C games into a single folder. They're still installed separately just like the originals. The only thing really changed is that it uses the DVD for launching, and allows you to use a launch menu.

Ussually setting up an expansion early game. Make a massive economy and getting a tech center and having it research SC Partical guns, and TC Missles. Then have three or so Stealth Tanks harass them for a bit (killing harvestors and all other vulnerable units) while building an army of Venoms and Enlightened.

And against a guy playing traveler who just makes a bunch of PACs I always win as the SCPC Venom and TCM STank are more cost-effective than the PAC. Heck Laser Venoms and unpgraded STanks can win against the equivelent value of PACs.

WC3 and SC, nothing since them have been any good. Haven't tried Dota though.

C&C3: spamfest, spam > micro
COH: not bad, but too much luck due to incosistency of damage dealing. Only a few playable maps, rest were imbalanced.
DOW: balance was lolbad, pathfinding was worse
Supcom: balance, win/loss bugs, easily exploited bugs
WiC: not bad, but bad team = lolraped, and have fun microing 5-10 units

Vehicles getting fucked up in the middle of braindead troops is horrible, and so is watching crappy aircraft pathing. The things hover over any sort of tilted terrain, and they rock with it. What the fuck? What a cheap port of vehicle physics. They act exactly like the same thing, and the necrons prove it by moving their chitterbugs to the skies. The Tau railgun suits are ear piss. What kind of fucking shields do they have that holds up every bit of traffic that isn't some kind of bullet or beam?

That aside, I can't really complain about the balance. Starcraft had three armies and years and years of patching, so of course it's going to maintain legendary status. Dawn of War adds an army or two with every expansion and, with the exception of the amazing (still unpatched, as far as I know) sisters of battle exploit, seems pretty fair on all fronts. Even the Tau and Dark Eldar can rebuff rushes if you work 'em right.

CnC3 as gotten patched allot since it first came out and each patch makes the game less and less spamtastic. Currently the only way to be able to win with spam alone is to have an economy that is so much stronger than your opponent's that you really deserve to win.

Mirco goes allot farther than spam does in CnC3 because if you have good mirco you can stop the enemy from spamming, or make his spam less effective. Most people do spam in it though because their micro isn't good enough that they can't win otherwise. However a play with good mirco will always win over a player how just spams unless the skilled player was an idiot when it came to macro strategy in which case they should lose anyway.

The Awakened are the best Teir 1 inf and Enligtened are a Teir3 unit that you can get at Teir2. The Tib Trooper might not be as good against buildings as BH but TT's can be upgraded with Cybernetic legs which allows them to get in range faster.

The only problem with the MoK is their lack of FlameTanks, or any anti-garrison vehicle but when you consider that their inf have EMPs and Super-Charged-Particle-Cannons is the second best upgrade (after Purfifing flame) it is hard to argue that they suck.
