I prefer 2142 to BF2.
I don't have to worry about jetwhores killing me every 2 seconds. I get rewarded by getting awards, instead of just having e-Bling. The game as a whole is more balanced than BF2 was (although they did a good job of balancing it out in AF). The unlock and ranking system gives me something to look forward to, unlike in BF2 where you have insane point gaps between ranks. Because everything is more balanced, you need a good degree of skill with the weapons and vehicles to come out on top. Also, teamwork, in theory, is more central to the gameplay (i have yet to see people really getting together as they should).

It seems those who don't like it thought it would be exactly like bf2 with futuristic weapons. I bought it, played for a week and dumped it for the og bf2. I tried again a month later and haven't stopped since. The patches have made it more stable which has allowed me to get over the noob phase and now I love it. (Only Titan mode, Conquest bites)

I only played it once and to tell ya the truth it was'nt that bad but what made it suck was the stupid unlocks. I mean why are nades an unlock? They made it too much like an rpg thank god they did'nt make it turn based.

We all know there's people that won't like it and people who will. Same type argument with consoles (was GTAIII better than Vice City?) A question like this is just as subjective as... is the sky blue? is it azure? is it cerulean? is it cobalt?..... etc... etc..... etc....
I personally find it to be very enjoyable and similar to BF2. The only difference is there seems to be MORE squadplay in 2142 due to the cool squad leader unlocks, NetBat system, and bonus points. Oh yeah... and there' some wacky space/ice age plot thrown in there instead of this wacky US beats up on "evil doers" plot.

The difference with 2142 is that you don't have to invest several hundred hours to get the major part of all the unlocks. And the grenades aren't that hard to unlock.David.Podedworny wrote:

i played just 2142 for about 2 months straight..... and the only thing i liked doing was whoring the walkers and trying to get good rounds in the gunship... ( I stopped playing 2142 before they nerfed the AA EMP's)

I get it...Bf2 was hardcore...to hardcore for some...so they softened it down, gave it a starwarsy feel...made the soldier throw like a sissy.....made all weapoins inaccurate but the sniper rifle...made distance killing easier(for the cowards) to get the Wow'ers and fantasy fags in to the BF world...

Gunships dont suck in 2142, you just need skill to fly them now without getting shot down. Sure easier to fly without crashing. The reason alot of you get blown out of the sky is that your prolly flying to low and EMP makes you crash, flying higher prevents that. Weapons are accurate, you just need to learn how to use them. the usual pronning in BF2 which made you have super accuracy instantly, doesnt apply. crouching is the new pronning.
Bf2142 is pretty good. Better than bf2 now, cuz of the dominance of the noobs and their toobs, dolphin divers, etc. Plus, it gives me something to play 'till Halo 3 comes out.
