Ok, I have a big problem, BF2 takes a long time to open, I click on the shortcut to BF2 and open it, the BF2 logo appears and closes but nothing happens later, I click it again and it doesn’t show anything, I click it again and the BF2 logo appears and disappears again until later it finally loads the game after I clicked it about 6-8 times… most of the time multiple BF2.exe’ processes appear on the Windows Task Manager and stay like that and the game didn’t even load, none of the 6 BF2.exe tasks load…

Take a look:

Oh, and it takes a LONG time to load a game/map, probably 10 minutes in the loading phase, and then I have probably a minute or two of lag and then it runs smoothly, what could it be? I run 32 processes out of the 50 I have on the task manager so that BF2 runs smooth, my internet is 1.5MB DSL.

My PC has:

*Intel Pentium 4 (2.40 GHz)
*1GB Ram.
*Video Card: ATI Radeon 9550 256MB.
*Windows XP – Home Edition with Service Pack 2 installed.

~

I Run BF2 with:

800 x resolution

And everything on low except textures (which is at medium) and geometry (which is high), sound quality is high. View distance is ‘farthest’.

I had all my settings on LOW and it still takes a really long time to load.

BTW my Main hard disc has 1.5GB left could this be the problem? I have a 2nd hard disc which has 37.8GB free.

One more thing, what do I have to do to see the bullet holes in the game?

Thanks, much appreciated.

First off. Clicking the bf2 icon multiple time only leads the to problem. does this happen AFTER a restart? your ram is low for prime bf2 settings.

you might want to move anything unnecessary off of your main hard disc.  your system will run better if you keep only the operating system and necessary program files on one main disc and all of your "storage" files, like mp3s and movies, on another hard drive.  try clearing off space, defragging your hard drive, rebooting, and see if bf2 runs.  if not, i'd try reinstalling bf2.  i know that's a pain in the ass, but it may help.

I used to have that problem, but it just disappeared on its own last month sometime.  I think some processes may make BF2 fail to launch properly, since it would usually start fine if I ended all non-critical processes.

*Actually, I think the problem disappeared when I started running SLI.

I click it once to see if it will open, then in it only opens the process I close it from the Task Manager and try again, I don't click it multiple times I go very slowly to avoid the PC from freezing or making other problems.
