About inapropriate names

Some day ago I saw a guy named "...Fuehrer..." on a public server and so I started a little research on inapropriate and racist Nicknames in battlefield 2. Here are some of the most disturbing results:

adolf88 since adolf is a regular name, it wouldnt be inapropriate. but combined with 88
(8 = 8th Character in alphabeth = H; so if you write 88 you get HH which is a
common shortcut for "Heil Hitler" which would be translated "Hail Hitler") 88 is often
used by neonazis since the use of such shortcuts isnt prohibited by law while using
Heil Hitler is

-=SS=-=Hitler=-=SS=- SS = Schutzstaffel ---> A special elite division in WW2. used by Hitler to monitor
the german citizens

-=A.HITLER|rusKoPf|-

-88-hitler 88 again this time in combination with "hitler"

|H=H|SCHUTZSTAFFEL Now here weve got the HH shortcut ive talked about before

Schutzstaffel_88 88 combined with SS

Waffen-SchutzStaffel The "Waffen-Schutzstaffel" was a division of the original SS

Waffen-SS-(GER) again Waffen-Schutzstaffel" with added "Germany" shortcut

I don't exactly now if these accounts already are deleted or not, but it is simply a shame that people are using these nicks in public.

The main reason I've made this topic is to show the reader that its alerting how uncarefull nazis can be without risking anything.

Unfortunatly I dont now the legal situation in any noneuropean countries, but in my native country and most other european countries promoting stuff with neonazi content is a crime. At least our laws state that.

Also i would appreciate it when you kick players with above or similiar names if youre an admin on a server, and give notice to other players and start a kickvote if youre a player on an server.

I don't think you can assume that they are neonazis just by looking at their aliases in an online game. I can almost guarentee you that most of them are meant as a joke. You've sort of a generalized all the people with those names. But, such is free speech. Not much you can do about it.

They have the right to freedom of speech just as I or anyone else does so I don't see how you can do anything about it. I am not saying that I promote these names, I am saying that it is their right to have them.

I respect your opinion there but in my eyes joking about such delicate themes doesnt seem very intelligent to me.

I think most people are using nicknames that are seem cool, good sounding or just fitting to them. So using such nicks doesnt reflect a reasonable person to me.

I dont want to say all of those persons are pure neonazis, but there certainly are some.

Excuse my bad english there but in Austria its 5:30 in the morning and im a little sleepy so i lack in concentration a bit.

about the "freedom of spech": As I said in my country its prohibited to glorify nazi content in speech and writtenly. Its called "Wiederbetätigung" here but theres no word I can think of in english.

I know that my origin may got a certain influence on this topic because here in central europe its a nearly omnipresent theme but I ve got my doubts about that "just deal with it". IMHO its exactly the wrong way. What if everybody "just dealt with it". The now existing right wing radical network would boom. Theyve got a damn organized way to bring there message to the people that are willing to hear it. Regardless if its music, video material or simply 3rd Reich merchandise.

Oh I forgot. You might want to hear the situation here in vienna that formed my opinion.
There are groups of neonazis wandering around the ouskirts of the city and beating up people randomly.
Graveyards are sprayed with crooked crosses [i think thats the englisch word for Hackenkreuz] and so on.
Now you might understand that im a bit sensitive when it comes to this topic.

Stop crying so they haved some names that referance the Nazi's or german army in WW2. Some of those names arent even associated with the Nazi's. Let it go. I get enough shit from my own tag. Johnny Reb was the nickname of the southern soldier in the civil war. Why that I take it I'm called a racist? I actually take the name because I believe in what the main issue was in the civil war. That of States Rights! The United States now is a central Federal Goverment that controls all. Yes we still have our State Consitutions but if the Fed has a problem with a stateslaw it has thepower to make the state conform via the spending clause. If you don't do what the Fed wants you get no money.

The civil war was more about States rights than slavery. However they became entwined. That is the sad part of the Civil war. Now we have an UBER Federal Gov and Weak State Govs.

I support states rights and I feel Johnny Reb also does that! I will claim I'm not a racist but really thats for you all to decide or paint me as one.

Any Hitler referance I assume is a referance to the Nazi's, well the I gues Im wrong but I still stand that some tags are not that bad. So it has some referance to the Nazi ithe ppl that do it are more akind because they are cool names more than really being actual nazis. You know that the main part of the german army in WW2 was driven to war due to fear. The SS was selected by Hilter himself in the first case and they stood with there hearts behind it. And it was exactly the SS who took people to the crematories. And mostly the SS werent warriors. They were some weird kind of police unit that spotted out jews and took them to the concentration camps.

I hope ppl as awhole have learned the evil of hitler but to make someone who has not be banned for an Inappropriate name is a example of censorship that I am not willing to accept. Look, we know how you feel. Lord knows we as Americans took our losses, and your point is truly heart-felt. But the consequence that comes from Free Speech is that the vagrants, morons, idiots, simpltons, dipshits, choads, invalids, and so on and so forth are able to speak their minds as well. I agree that people should refrain from using such names in public, but they don't know any better. Or maybe they do and just don't care. The best thing you can do is ignore them, and they'll eventually go away. Sure, someone new will come along and try to ruin your experience, but be the bigger man, and let it go. I just dont believe they will vanish when youre ignoring them. You can hope that some of them come to reason when they gain in maturity. And i also wouldnt speak about them as a dying race. As i said before, theyve got well organized structures in their communtiy.

But please dont think of me as someone who is hiding in a hole and crapping his pants because "the NAZIS are comming" and theyre out to get us all. I just want to point out some things Im concerned about.

bah, humbug. i think it's just a joke that people use the names. yes, they have some sick and twisted sense of humor that not many of us share, but i do. sure, it is a sensitive subject and some people are pretty insensitive, but i believe it is all in a joke. i don't really think that these guys are actually neo-nazis or anything, but then again i could be nieve.

hell today i was playing half life 2 online and MY TEAM capped me for having the name Nigga G. hell, i was the back rebel character. i thought it was funny. then they told me to change the name, or else they'd do it again. my smart ass changed my name to "I kill nuns and kids," and they capped me again! so then, i changed my name to something in german my roomie told me to put...i forgot what it was or what it ment, but then they asked me what the name ment and i just told em "hell, it means God is my Savior" and they left me alone. surely the definition was far from that.

i understand your point, but i'm not highlighting you when i say this: people need to loosen up.
