I downloaded the demo and in classic EA style, i got an error; some shit about some missing component and that i should try to reinstall it. I did and to my suprise (yeah right), it didn't work.

Fail.
Maybe a bit late now (havent been on this forum in some time) but: the reinstall is about directX you need to reinstall directX. Had same error and i got it fixed.

i personally think that dice did an amazing job with this game.  it is visually stunning and the weapons and unlocks are awesome.

there is a glitch to where when you die you are still able to look around by moving your mouse and it gets really annoying but other than that it's a great game.  you really can't tell anything by playing the demo b/c it's just that....a demo.

Likes: Titan Mode is awesome.  Modern weaponry is pretty cool, even though I do enjoy using real weapons (BF2, 1942).

Dislikes:  Idiots who jump into a gunship, fly off the Titan, and proceed to nosedive because they can't fly.  Spawning in a flying gunship just seconds before it explodes because some idiot flew into a pole.  Vehicles in general are too weak.  If you so much as even CLIP a gate or something, the vehicle's armor goes down.

Well I played the beta and demo and plan to get the game as soon as possible. I really like the game.

likes:
- New guns
- Mixing unlocks
- The sound when tanks shoot xD is like omg cool!
- Engineers are not useless like bf2 and can actually take a tank or two.
- Mechs
- Launch Pods

dislikes:
- Laggy feeling when just connected
- Helicopter/plane it plain sucks, the only thing it can really kill is the transport ships...
- Lack of more vehicles
- Sea battles (sure the oceans are frozen, but there still are lakes and stuff right?)
- etc

If you login first time with your EA downloader account ( that you gave up on veteran program) it should appear right away in the player list.
Yep - burns on me; have 2 EA member accounts ON THE SAME EMAIL. Registered the game on the wrong one and can't access the damn veteran nick. Oh well - not like the advantage of 100 pts for first 2 promotions is that big a deal.

Likes: better push for teamwork (squad bonuses/squad radius, etc)
Faster loading times on maps/rounds
In game promotions & unlocks
RIDICULOUS number of unlocks (I can stop playing any time...just one more unlock...)
Titan mode is kind of cool concept - forcing phases of open vehicle combat and close quarters on the same round means no pure vehicle whoring nor karkand infantry grenade spam (not at the same time anyway).

Dislikes: getting raped by the mechs (this may change once everyone starts to work together on them)
2142 porpoises seem to have replaced dolphins
2 CTD so far (which I can live with - beats the 20+ CTD per day on 1.3)
Stats not updating (I know - same as first month of BF2...)

Fence sitting:
Limited creativity in new awards (90% are EXACTLY the same as BF2) - can we get a '5 infantry crunched by mech' award or a '10 teabags issued' ribbon? Some credit for the 'pins' system, since they kind of encourage specialising in a weapon/role for a whole round all the time and not just for a once-only award.

Basically - the game design stuff is nice, but there are still some stability/support issues similar to BF2.

Amen brother. I'll give it a try only if someone buys it for me. EA released another half-assed game to cover for the first one. Instead of creating a "new" cool game, they just used the same game engine as BF2 and moved all the bugs to the new mod. Lets just see how long till people start bitching and moaning about 2142. Anyone had a red tag bug yet?

I have it, and I love it.  Things I like: Shit loads of unlocks, Fall of Berlin, Titan mode.

Things I dislike" Shit loads of lag in any server beyond 32 player slots (could be my computer, then again could be the game), lots of lag in Titan mode which is a shame because it was designed so well and is so much fun to play, the filter doesn't work so I can't get all of these full servers out of the way.

Dislikes:
The anti air turret doesn't lock on for me (probably a bug)
Titan mode lag on most servers
The lack of any good weapons for new players
Knife animation
All the guns are super inaccurate.

There are so many bugs in this game. Revives don't always register, dead people fall through the titan's floor,  random kicks, game crashes, sometimes the ranks don't update until you restart the game, and random clipping deaths.

Players that have no unlocks will be owned in 1 month. Random recon guys will cloak rape them, they will be owned by tanks and mechs because they have no sprint time, and they will give up on the game.

I want to be able to use an assault rifle as a semi sniper rifle. You could kill people long range with the AK 101  but so far I have not found a gun that can do that in 2142.

Big yep - guess people will have to pick a class they really like, get raped for 20 rounds to scrape up enough unlocks to get a solid gun up; then whore it like crazy until they can unlock some other tree. Even more reason to join a damn squad (nah - fuck it, just mech-whore it).

Depending on point of view, making people stick with a class and build up practice is a good thing - I would rather have flexibility if possible.

While 2142 has a number of features I like, in particular a reason to get awards besides the fact that they are shiney.  They give bonus XP!  The ability to build your own class, as it were, to fit your play style exactly is also cool.

However, I am not willing to pay $50 for what is bassicly a mod of BF2, particularly since after a year they still don't have BF2 entirely fixed.  We're close, only a few things left in my opintion.  Fix the favorite server refresh bug, increase the AA lock on range to max view distance, add a second smoke grenade to the G3 kit, and make a way for claymores to be dissarmed and I'm perfectly happy.

With EA having shown that they can support a game properly I'll be willing to continue on to 2142, the fact that they are releasing EF and AF on (a single) disk now brings me hope that this will be so.  Releasing those as downloads only was one of thier worst decisions ever, since it completely fractualized the community.

Likes: Alot... A little like BF2 on steroids once you get the sprint unlocks and such. I'm rediscovering the reason why I liked support so much when I first started BF2. The stupid "accuracy" stuff on them is insane though. Why did they do that?

Dislikes: I'm not going to bitch about the game this early.

I don't like 2142, I freakin LOVE it. I like the 40 unlocks, I like the gameplay. I like that the vehicle's are relatively weak, I like the much lesser loadtimes, I like the look of it. I just think this is THE game i'm gonna put all my time into. I didn't paly bf2 for the whole of last week and i dont think i will very soon.

3 thinks i like:
the load times are significantly shorter
the game is balanced compared to bf2
the unlocks seem like an improvement, not an alternative

3 thinks i dislike:
the mechs are like -_- lol
a kill is 1 point? getting points is now a hassle
the multiplayer interface is a little groggy... red yellow green means nothing to me, and when you tell it to refresh your favourite list, it doesn't refresh the number of players in it... the numbers and server status will always remain the same,,, only the colours change

The things I like bout the game are....well........kinda everything
Finally sumthing different than the same ol' war story......

Negative things......ow those TITAN thingies lag, and thats bout it really.

(btw, love them guys throwing all their motion detection mines @ 1 entrance while I'm having coffee in my
Nekomata and zooming in on them........)

I've played the game about 4 hours now and I have very mixed feelings.  But I will limit my comment to one thing - the unlocks.  I think the new unlock system is the absolute worst part of the game.

You people actually LIKE having to unlock grenades, sprint, stamina boost, etc.?  Are you insane?  You actually LIKE the rigid unlock trees?  As engineer I have to unlock the defuser to get the improved gun?  Why is that enjoyable?  And the coup de grace is there are ONLY EIGHT GUNS TO UNLOCK?  Completely stupid.

Good vehicle balance, good teamwork emphasis.  I'm an engineer/anti-tank player in BF2, so it was Christmas when i discovered both kits had been merged.

Hate how you have to unlock the spawn beacon...  it's going to wreck squadding for the first few months of the game. Honestly, in a game that has a strong teamwork emphasis, WHY?

I don't like having to unlock some pretty basic equipment, grenades for example.

Servers crash every so often...  like in the BF2 1.3 patch

Can anyone confirm this?

This is true.  I opened the box and the eula for adware literally falls out in your lap.
