sif this works... lmfao...no user can change settings. its just that u "think" it works cause u are actually looking for the change in hitreg. hit registration is constant for every1.

btw sarge, i thought u werent gonna play this "shit" game because of the new patch... u as well as alot of other ppl. lol. i see absolutely EVERYONE that said they werent' gonna play bf2 anymore, nearly every day playing it. ur all infamous :p

ill stick to my 1337 skillz thanks one!!11!oneone!111!!!1
actually, I said I was going to jet whore.

oh and yes, you can change these settings, they are CVARs, which are CONFIGURABLE VARIABLES. As you probably don't know those two words: SETTINGS THAT YOU CAN CHANGE.

So, what values are people using?

Have we settled on what's best, or is it still a case of different values for different people?

Great find, although I havent tried it yet. Waiting to see which value works for me.

couldn't tell if it changed, i was just doing the same, tried a few values, i think its just a placebo effect. I think maybe the server compensates for all users so its constantly changing slightly.

No it doesn't break the ROE. It's changing your interpolation, basically how often you receive the locations of everyone from the server. If you've played CS or CS:S, it's basically like changing your "rates". Raising this value will take more of a toll on your internet connection, but should result in better hit detection.
Ok, I get it that this does not go against any rules. However, what I want to know is that is this hit reg thing similar to monitor refresh rate? As in like, how much information will be received by the computer?

If so I will set it as high as possible without making the punk-buster trying to bust my butt for it.

I'm pretty sure it is based on your ping to the server you are playing on.

meh... whatever. ill stick to ma skillz! (saying this cause i rekn the command doesnt work) btw, anything that changes gameplay for some players (which in any way enhances they're gameplay compared to other bf2 players, even though they are CVARS) is or can also be considered an exploit (or whatever else u may think of it)... i know u might say that they are CVARS and can be changed, but with the amount or pathetic bans that ive seen, i wouldnt want to take any chance. lol

careful now. it just sounds abit sus. thats all :p

Just when i was getting annoyed at the jets and how the bullets from the jet cannons never register on them, i see this. If this helps i just might get those gun kills i should always be getting.

see other thread, you're missing, from your POV you're hitting but for everyone else you're aiming behind them.

So... have we figured out what the best value to plug in is?

I used 400, works a treat.

EDIT: - 400 is the max u can do afaik, it will lag if your internet isn't very good, I'm on 2Mb ADSL (distinctly average but my provider is very good). Anytthing less than that or if your with a crappy ISP then you'll likly need a lower number.

Interesting.  I've never really noticed a problem but perhaps the problem was shrouded in my newbility, I will try this as well.

I knew about the latency thing,  was using it for a while now, and i can say with 100% confidence that the Latency thing really works,  But its mainly for using the sniper rifle,   it makes the scope smoother and much less laggy.
Tried it with different kits,  but i really couldn't see any improvement.
That being said,  the Interpolation thingy really makes up for the other kits,  Don't know which value is best for me yet,  but i do know its in the 30's to 80's  range.
And its not just because i THINK its helping.

Good find  +1 for that

ugh, I completely forgot about this: what internet connection speed do you use in BF2? 256 or T1?

I was using 256, but I'm going to try both with different settings and see if it makes a difference.

I'll give you props on discovering that but changing the values to try and give yourself an advantage over other players who don't use your method sure does seem like cheating no matter how you sugarcoat it.

Too bad... It isn't working for me. Tryed out with friend of my in empty server with ping 60 (like it was done in the video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPTwGSrjsgo). Used values like 5, 10, 50, 200, 400, 500.

First Impression:
I tried 30 because thats my average ping and i really owned yesterday. hard to say, if it is because of that, but i shot tv-guideds more accurate, got more kills with the m16 and even shot two jets with hellfires. i´ll keep on testing..

We have been testing a little bit today. On CloseQuarter Battles, there seems to be only little effects for some, but the tv-missiles seem to hit much better

Not!
People have tried that and it doesn't work.  I have tried it and it didn't work
What are you doing to say that the -heap works?

Besides I've been using this tweak for sometime now and it works.  Here are 2 things that I found interesting:
- the tweak works best with a low ping.  if your ISP provides a feature to decrease ping thorugh voip ask for it.
-ExtrapolationTime & Intrapolationtime appear to be dependant on your CPU.  The better your CPU the better the results.
-Extrapolation: the process of constructing new data points outside a discrete set of "known data points". I assume this means trying to estimate your ping on certain locations on the map, not sure.
-Interpolation: estimation of a value between two known data points. I assume it's the ping between you and the server.
-You will have to monitor and change your value from round to round.  Even if it is the same server. My ping does seem to change from round to round so I adjust accordingly.

From reading this and trying the same it would appear that if you have a fast CPU your :

SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.100000
Should have been variable but it's not.  You have to adjust this manually to what your ping is for optimium playing experience.  As already noted 0.10 means 100ms ping

SettingsManager.U32Set GSExtrapolationTime 100
This has something to do with the time it takes to process what is already on the screen.  But remember in order to lower it you need a fast CPU and, I'll assume you will need a high end video card along with a low ping, fast ISP for optimium results.

SettingsManager.U32Set GSInterpolationTime 1200
This has something to do with the time it takes to predict (what? I don't know).  It appears that 1200 default is to long of a time lapse which causes lag for some. But setting it to low should cause a loss of packets.  WHY? Because you are trying to go faster then what is allowed.  You have to find a sweet spot.  I believe its somewhere between 400-1100.

This has been my observation so far and it works.

Damn this will be nice to fix.  It bugs the crap out of me when I shoot someone 8-9 times before they die.
