The game won't even load up.  I get a black screen for about 5 seconds after I double click the 2142 icon and it returns back to desktop.  Nothing in my processes indicated bf2142 is even running.  It seems to crash every time i try.

I've installed 2 seperate bf2142 clients. One from fileplanet and another from somewhere else.  Both install correctly, but won't install the Directx updates at the end.  I dismissed this as i already had the most up-to-date version of directx (4.09.0000.0904).

I tried installing the latest directx 9.0c update to be sure and i keep getting the same error message: " A cabinet file is necessary for installation and the cannot be trusted. Please verify Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid."  I've ensured through the My Computer, Manage, Services, Cryptographic Services icon that it is in fact enabled and on Automatic during startup so theirs no problem there.

All my video/motherboard/sound drivers are completely up-to-date.  I also tried with the firewall both on and off as well as my anti-virus software both on and off.  Nothing seems to work.

I'm fully aware that this is a BETA and that it might not work for everyone, but if anybody has encountered this problem or has something i haven't tried, i'd appreciate any help.

My system specs:

Mobo:  Socket 939 A8N-E Asus Nvidia nForce 4 Ultra
CPU:  AMD 64 FX-55 2.6Ghz
Vid:  ATI x800 PCI-ex
Ram: Kingston 2 Gig
Sound: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS

Have you tried the beta forums? You'll probably get better help there.

If you mean the EA 2142 beta forums, i've browsed the threads.  Theirs a couple of people who are experiencing the same thing, but nobody has an answer. Hadn't seen one here yet though.

Wow.  What a post.  Obviously your new to the internet so i'll go easy on you.  Its called money.  You use it to pay for things.  I used it to purchase all of my computer components.

Unless you have a GOOD suggestion on how i may be able to fix this problem, i suggest you go back to trolling for another thread before someone else beats you to it.

Fax 55? Bleh! Fax-60 FTW! Anyway, on topic, maybe your shortcut is messed up? I've never had this happen to me, and it doesn't seem likely, but I'd check to make sure the target of the shortcut is correct and doesn't have any extra stuff that you don't want in there... also make sure your resolution is set high enough to run it.... judging by your post, you have good knowledge of the winxp OS, so that stuff should be easy for ya, if you haven't tried it already
