I want some help in choosing if this is the right notebook " Dell XPS M1710 " I have been looking into this for some time now, but since I am no computer nerd, I barely know how BF2 would run on this type of hardware. Any help because I think an Alienware Is going to be my second choice, but I hear they are over priced? This new Alienware Aurora mALX looks pretty neat.

We give Dell laptops out at work - and consiquetially we also have to support them - I do not have a very good opinion of Dell machines.

You will pay more for the 'Brand Name' Alienware, and there are plenty of different laptops out there that can run BF2. HAve a good look around. I use a fujitsu-siemens Amilo 3438G which has 2mb of RAM and the 256mb NVidea Go 6800 in it and I have no problems running graphics at high. And I assure you it cost no where near the amount you would have to shell out for an Alienware machine.

It all comes down to personal choice, afterall are you just going to use if for gaming?

I bought a HP dv8000...dual core 1.83 GHz, 1GB RAM, and 256 MB nVIDIA card (dedicated VRAM). Runs BF2 like a champ. I was a bit worried with it only having 1GB, but the fact that BF2 takes advantage of dual core processing must make a difference...because it runs BF2 as well as my desktop system with 2.5GB RAM.

I looked into Dell, Alienware, other name brands and custom builts...this was the best deal for the money.

This is the second HP laptop I've owned, and I will probably own a third when this one is outmoded.
