As of today, my 1993 Ext Cab, Long bed 3/4 GMC Truck reached the milestone of 150,000 miles.

Now keeping in mind, I use this truck to pull a horse trailer, a gooseneck 2 axle trailer loaded with hay, a daily driver and as my hunting truck, the 100,000 miles i've put on it are long and hard on that poor engine.
She seems not to have the power she once did due to age and milage so i'm asking for your opionon this matter with the options above what the fuck should i do?  Keep in mind gas prices don't bother me since a "well built" 350 will get the same gas milage as a stock 454.

and go..

If it were mine I'd probably rebuild the engine.  Did it have enough power for you when it was new or were you not using it for the same type of work then?

I'd think the extra power you would get from getting a new 350 vs rebuilding the old one would be negligible and you'd probably not get much more "bang" for your extra bucks.

And if it had enough power initially why get the 454?  It's not like you're drag racing with the goose neck.

How much weight are you pulling in the trailer?

i just threw the 454 in for shits'n'giggles.. i'd have to replace the transmission as it won't mount and couldn't handle the power. However at this point i'm ready to ditch the automatic (ugghh more work).

but drag racing with a gooseneck would be fun...
i say buy a "newer used"  gmc/chevy 2500 with the duramax

Negative.

2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD. Towed a 2800lbs Yamaha SX210(boat) 680+ miles from Yuma, AZ to Farmington, NM and back and managed 20+mpg. This trip has lots of travel up the mountains.
I was completly surprised by this trucks beyond excellent performance.

2800 lbs isn't all that much weight.  If this guy's pulling anything like a 7x20 gooseneck or bigger he's probably pulling about that much empty.  Especially if it's not a flatbed.
