Are there any decent combat flight sims about at the moment? Last ones I played were TFX and EF2000 and that's quite a while ago now.
Well, brought up before, Lock On is a very good combat sim. There is also Microsoft Combat Simulator, but i heard it wasn't that good of a game.Bertster7 wrote:

In terms of modern combat.. nothing exists. Lock On: Modern Air Combat is a disgrace... it has more bugs than BF2 1.3. It hasn't worked properly on any of our three computers.. even my Alienware. In my opinion its a POS.Bertster7 wrote:

If you're talking WW2.. there still isn't anything better than IL-2 Forgotten Battles, along with its two expansion packs: Ace Expansion, and Pacific Fighters. The original game is almost five years old, but its graphics are decent and its a fun game to mess around with. It takes some getting used to the advanced flight physics in the game though. Even a flight simmer like me had troubles in the beginning. I haven't played it in several months... I can assume that my BF2 noob-like flying has destroyed any skill I had in IL-2.

Really? I havn't played it a whole lot, but i haven't noticed a whole lot of bugs with Lock On, well you seemed to have played it more than me so i guess take his advise instead of mine.USAFDude_1988 wrote:

The company that made lock on also made Pacific Fighters which is a WWII fighter.
Ubisoft published both games... they come from different companies.BolvisOculus wrote:

Yes, thats what i meant, both were published by the same company. The EA is the same while the Dice is different.USAFDude_1988 wrote:

Will the demo include online abilities? If so, who's up for some 747 formation flying?

Also, no 747's in the demo as far as i can tell.BolvisOculus wrote:
Unfortunatly, it doesn't. It has a couple of aircraft, 3 single player missions and you can fly around the carribean. The final version will have online though.
Thanks for the responses.
Will def give IL-2 a go.
I was looking for something modern so I'll prob try Lock On as well - hopefully won't get too fucked over by bugs.

Its about halfway down the page in a black box. It looks like you do have to be registered to download it, but you don't need to pay money to register
Fighter Ace version whatever it is now.. insta dogfights WWII style. greatest flight sim ever imoUbersturmbannfuhrer wrote:
Speaking of simulators, does anyone know any other good simulator with fighters and shit???
It doesn´t need to have all the functions, pisses me off when it takes 10 minutes to get the plane ready to fly and then crash into a tree or into the water..
How long did it take you guys to download?
it said about 20 hours, then the download failed, im gonna wait for tomarrow, or later tonight, that way it won't take so long.
My download got down to 3 kb/s (64 hours) before the server reset the connection. This was with a free account, guess that is how they force you to pay for a premium account.
Been looking around for any other download links but it looks like this is a Gamespot exclusive for now....
