the crew weren't that good that time
sorry dude it was a one hour documentory about the challenger..that was it im afraidShotYourSix wrote:
That was a great history bit. Thanks man! +1
A few things I found particularly interesting:
- Adding one milllimeter of steel armour to a tank increased its weight by 1 ton.
- Leave it to the British to build a tank which can destroy and entire building while at the same time making a pot of tea.
- What is this ^ marking for? I see it on a lot of tanks.
- That longshot in Desert Storm was amazing. Can you imagine the whoops and backslapping after that one?
- Challenger II can hit 8 targets in only 40 seconds. Amazing.
- Where is part 5?
- Where is part 5?
- Where is part 5?
Big thanks for posting this. Really enjoyed it.
i told u the challenger 2 owns, noone believed me!
the challenger 2 has air con....did u even watch the video!kr@cker wrote:

designed for urban combat, and has modular armor, meaning it can not only be repaired in field by only replacing the damaged sections, but can be refitted before each mission with armor suited for the available threat
I hate wiki, but the links at the bottom are good
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkava
it has 300 more horses than your challenger
challenger top speed : 37 mph
merkava mk4 top speed: 60 mph
not to mention it's airconditioned, how many tanks have you ever seen with AC?
i couldn't watch them all, but I've seen many others, I guess the variant i saw wasn't equipped, I did like the boiling water thingy
Yah I would say so, when I first saw the real thing, I thought it was another tank.DoNER90 wrote:

they need the merk in 1.4
now now Kracker, we don't need to see a Merk in 1.4, Dice would never make it so it could carry Infantry and still have good armour, just like the other tanks in the game, it doesn;t do it justice.
yeah that's right, cuz the A-10 is a tank killer in real life, too bad DICE didn't get the memo
Only the british would design a tea-maker into their tanks. i actually laughed out loud when i saw that. Makes me wonder if theres a coffee maker on the abrams.
on a seperate note, I haven't seen anybody repping the Leopard tanks. Since i know next to nothing about them, any Germans out there know anything about them.
And, as far as i know, the Abrams still rocks.

yeah i was hoping for some german input on the leopards as well, the only german military i've seen on here was starfleet, and he's ex navy
I drive Leopard IIs in the Canadian Army, they are exactly the same, well only execption is the language the buttons are in >.> and i will tell ya the L2 is on par with the Abrams, when it comes down to it the A2, and the L2 are just as powerfull as each other... but the leopard is better on Gas. the Abrams engine is both a pro and a con, pro: it raises its top speed Con: on a sencer it will be the glowing white thing that shoots back, so it makes it really easy for a heat seaker to track it(assuming the fail safes built into the A2 did not function), but the A2 has a system to deal with heat seaker rockets and laser guided, althought just like any tank, only armour is the protection for a wire guided or a free guide rocket.
There was a Challanger tank that fell off its Transporter in Hampshire about a Month ago, it took over 14 hours* to be lifted back onto its Trailor.

I think that's for what squad or platoon it's in, there are 4 (<, ^, v, >) which designate Alfa (A), Bravo (B), Charlie (C), and Delta (D). I don't know which arrow corresponds to which squad/platoon though.ShotYourSix wrote:

close, but in my experince it only shows what Company you are in, the ^ for instance is usally Cavalry(don't quote me on that). take mine for example we have crossed Swords.k30dxedle wrote:

lol fair enough Omega, like i said the Abram and the Leopard, plus the Challenger are arguably just as powerful, but when it comes down to it, the leopard is #1, why? because it can submerge underwater your abrams can't do that hehehe

The Challenger 2 is awesome - Now. It wasn't before the second Iraq war, since it was designed for operations in European theatres and it didn't work in the sand! But they fixed it so the sand doesn't clog it up and now it's great.
If you ask me it's the best tank in the world - just look at it's performance. KDR 300:0. Can't argue with that much. It's the obscenely heavily armoured, with a great targeting platform for a pretty decent gun. It has shown that in combat it works - brilliantly.
The Merkava Mk 4 is a great tank, but I don't think it's as good as the M1A2 or the Challenger. Oh and kr@cker, just pointing out the top speed you listed for the Merkava is in Kmph not Mph, if you look at them both in Kmph -
Challenger 2 : 59Kmph
Merkava : 60Kmph
Not a big difference.
Also, scientists at the MoD have developed an electric force field (pulsed power system), which vaporises incoming projectiles on impact. Designed specfically to counter shaped liquid copper rounds as used in common anti tank weaponry like the RPG-7. Sounds funky - but it's 4 years old and I haven't heard much about it lately, maybe it flopped.

What a baseless remark... any reasons why you think that?elite wrote:

Merkavas have a high crew survivability rate... think about it.
it will soon , i hope!Deaths_hand wrote:

hehe totaly right, after all Tankers don't die... they burn. so it would be nice to know that in the case my tank was ever penetrated i would survive, and not burn to death in a can.USAFDude_1988 wrote:
