If anybody is interested in western-themed games that put on a bit better of a show than GUN, try this:

http://www.fileplanet.com/165696/downlo … uarez-Demo

One character is a bible-thumping bounty hunter, and the other is a guy on the run from him for a crime he didn't commit and is also (I think) part-Indian. Features quick-draw combat, horseback combat, Pitfall-like whip swinging, horse thieving and general slaughter of generic wild west bad guys.

The game releases in September this year for a semi-budget $39, though I would gladly pay standard price for it.

I found one part in the demo that I just had to perfect, which was difficult during FRAPS. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3FOGDA4G

I tried it, and gave up whilst playing Billy.  Stealing the horse is impossible!

Spoiler:

Though this is a FPS, it takes a bit of back knowledge from other adventure games to puzzle that one out. The saddle is inside the house. If you go in the front yard once, the old guy will tell you to go away in so many kind words. Afterwards, he'll start to wander. When he's away from the front door and not in your general area, sneak in through the front and go right to hide behind the crates. Peek around the corner to make sure he's still busy, and then enter the house. The saddle is randomly placed, and seems to be either on the bottom or top floor in the main rooms of either. Don't forget the handgun while you're at it, if you want to kill your way through any indians (even on easy mode, you can die to one shotgun blast).

From here, there are two options. One is to sneak out on the upper deck, turn right and toss the saddle out into the back area. This has its disadvantages in that if you get caught, the saddle will reset into the house, but it is easier to sneak around without a saddle hovering in front of your face. The other is to, making sure the front door is clear, sneak around to the back of the same crates that you were hiding by on the way in (with the saddle this time), make sure the coast is clear, and then move back out the front.

Either way, once you've escaped the front 'yard,' turn left, and then left again at the end of the fence. You should come across a broken section. Jump that, and turn left. If you tossed the saddle off the upper deck, pick it up now. Otherwise, keep moving until you see another broken fence area to the left. Jump that and enter the stables. Approach the horse, saddle in hand, and it'll fade out to a fully-saddled horse. 'Use' the saddle area on the horse to mount, and exit the same way you came into the stables, jumping the horse as you get to the fence breaks. You could probably try riding out through the front yard, but the old man might have a better shot at you from the railing.

Ride towards the place where you started the map and you'll see a rather obvious ramp across the river jump across that, ride on, and you're free. The horse won't really be stolen so much as borrowed, as you'll shortly have to leave it behind. Remember that you can latch onto branches with your whip, and that enemies have a hard time seeing you in the bushes, and you should be fine. If you have a handgun, you can kill the first bunch of indian raiders you come across, otherwise you'll have to sneak by and steal a horse or (with a .01% chance of survival), solo them with your whip. If you don't have the handgun, just ride straight through everything without stopping and hope they don't get a lucky hit on you.

If you are having trouble, don't feel ashamed to use the quick save and quick load keys.

Now there's probably another method of doing this. Remember, Billy, upon contact with the little gorge, will say that he 'needs a horse, or a log, or sumthin'.' If I suspect right, you could probably snatch a saw instead of a horse and cut down a nearby tree. I'll be trying this next, when the game comes out. Billy has enough problems without adding horse wrangling to his list.

A little bit of trivia, but if you bother the old man enough, he'll start mentioning his missing wife who supposedly went out to pick a few dandelions. I saw this same old man in a screenshot with Ray (I think, can't remember clearly), and I assume that Ray, being the righteous bounty hunter he is, will take a break from hunting Billy long enough to find the old dude's wife. As for Billy, he's running for his life with a hurt ankle (that doesn't seem to bother him from then on).

---

I can see alot of people will prefer Ray's style of gameplay (I admit to putting on soundtracks from 'Unforgiven' and 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' while wandering that town), but you can get pretty crafty with Billy.
