Here's a question:
Do you think stem cell and embryo research is a good thing, do you think it's right?

Another question:
Do you think research may be a form of freedom of speech?

I'm pro-stem cell research myself.

I can't say that 'research is a form of freedom of speech' though. If that were the case then one might propose that rape or murder be deemed a form of freedom of speech.

I'm pro any research really.  Knowledge leads to greater understanding which enables higher levels of control, be it control of an object or situational control.

I'd agree that research isn't really a freedom of speech however.

but those would still be illegal as crimes.   I think it equates to religion in some ways, both are freedoms

I think the arguement being they such logic as research being a freedom of speech would lead to other potentially nefarious actions being viewed as a freedom of speech and therefore legal.

In a sense, I suppose anyone is free to rape, murder, and generally be a useless human being.  There is only the consequences after, which don't so much inhibit the direct action as repeated actions ... and then only if you've managed to screw up and get caught.

Stem cell research is definitely acceptable, but research is not a form of freedom of speech. Research often involves actually doing something, speech is just speech, it does not involve action.

Like I just said, research often involves action. You can't just allow anything from science without allowing rape and murder as well, that would be hypocritical.

Stem cell research would be good, but if it gets to cloning then no, only if cloning human organs but not a human itself. Cloning humans would be bad... coz then ppl would abuse it, then if a country abuses them and creates clone super soldiers...

I think its okay as long as its from available tissies.
I read today that baby teeth may be a new source of stem cells.

cool, and they fall out anyway, good call by whoever found that out
I read a thing about 'freedom of research' just wondered what you thought, that argument against is prominent in the discussion.  It's true that science usually requires manipulation of natural objects and even though it is written falls outside freedom just like religion does, but both have their tie ins to freedom of speech.  Illegal research is still illegal
