Delete all the files in the public HTTP folders.
Reinstall all your code.

What forum program were you using? PunBB? vBulletin? phpBB?

Apparently it's been "hacked" as well.

It's a bitch to find any info on "Edifier" as it's a common name of a boutique speaker company.

Hacker? More like a script kiddie with a script which scans servers for known vulnerabilities and exploits them. He's about as L33t as my mum.

Unfortunately, for every lame hacker out there, there is a system admin who doesn't have their security sorted out so attacks like this will continue. Have a chat with your sys admin, get him to remove your BBS, scan the system for holes, patch all known vulnerabilities, get a decent IDS installed, beef up your firewalls (app filtering ones would have helped against this type of attach but port filtering ones wouldn't) and then re-install your BBS.
