when do you think the world will end, or have you heard anything from anybody?
kind of interesting, i was on a vacation and was in costa maya in mexico.  The tour guide told us that the mayans predicted that the world would end in 2012.<-kind of scary, seeing that we are 6 years away
Ive heard that the egyptians have predicted it will end in 3000.  And ive heard of the Jewish predicting the end of the world in 2240.  Discuss and list any predictions different from mine that you have heard.  I honestly think this is a bunch of bs, but its still interesting to look at the different groups and their different predictions.

I think the world will end when the sun fades out say another 500 million years perhaps

edit - Actually I'm talkin crap the end of the world who knows when earth runs into a black hole, that above is the end of all life on earth. it has been here a long time and think it will be for another bloody long time

All these predictions are nonsense IMO. Why should the world end only because the calendar has reached a certain year? The end of the world will be caused by a meteor impact or an all out nuclear war and even those event will have a low number of survivors. All these prophecies that say "In the year <insert the number you got by making some random mathmatics here> the world will die" are pure BS imo...
Though, this is not supposed to insult those who believe in these prophecies...

yeah im talking about predictions....you know any?
i know that the sun will eventually burn out and will own us all.  But by then, I think that humans will have the technology and will have the "smarts" to take their people to another solar system with lets say, conditions to live.

I know, in my first post i listed that it is a bunch of bs, but it still interests me that all these people come up with different predictions.

If you watch the history channel, people also predicted it would end in 1812 ...
And then they tried again saying that they left something out in the equation ... and they came up with 1840.
And the "they" people was some preacher from a church - I forget who and what exactly.

True, especially as all calendars are made up scales to measure time from some arbitary point that is different in every culture.
It will end when the sun goes nova (several billion years from now) or when we get hit (as you said) by a freeking huge meteor, or we all finally blow ourselves the fuck up.
Personally, the latter is most likely coz we are all stupid (least most governments are and they are the ones with the keys to the bomb cupboard)
I'll hopefully be dead by then so won't give a shit anyway.
