they excelled this time...did u pommy blokes honestly think u would win?  lol u lost against Portugal ffs

wanna talk about referee winning a game for a team, have a look at the Australia/Brazil game. Particulary the penalty that did cost us the game, Cahill was pulled down by the other player...but the got the penalty..

ah well, i guess we will b all at it again in 4 yrs time....

*p.s. i really hope france doesnt win it again.

After watching every game in this current world cup, I have lost faith in both F.I.F.A and the referees which they give the honor of governing our team’s matches.
F.I.F.A is so concerned in promoting “Anti Racism” and “fair play” they are failing to see the negative effects which are being caused by various players who feel the need to cheat and dive at even the slightest touch.
Being an England fan I am not upset for us losing, but in the manner in which we lost.  I feel that Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo made some unforgivable decisions which ultimately cost England and will cost Portugal in the latter stages of their world cup campaign, after having most of their players banned for the semi final.
His biggest error in my eyes was red carding Wayne Rooney, Simply put Rooney was Red carded for doing the exact opposite of the Portuguese players by staying on his feet.  If for instance Ronaldo had been in Rooney’s position he would have gone down like a sack of shit, and this fact of the game disgusts me.
Perhaps it is time for F.I.F.A to get their priorities right and to stamp down on the cheats who feel it is necessary to dive and harass the incompetent referees.

To be exact, Rooney stept on the others players nuts! He was standing in his crotch!

But on the other hand, Portugal is a country that doesn't play fair. In their match against holland, there were 16, SIXTEEN yellow cards, and a total of FOUR red cards. These teams don't play for the sport, they play for the mere winning of this WC.

The match between Brazil and France was a great one, and an even greater goal by Henry!
But I am all for the Germans now, I want them to win!

I unlike Ozghost, sympathise with all the English fans out there. Many teams have been hit with bad reffing this World Cup. While Australia copped alot I have noticed it crop up in some of the other matches. While the English team never lives up to it's potential, they lost that match to a ref, not the other team.

Ozghost, it was Australia/Croatia you are on about. Oh, it was Viduka who was pulled down, not Cahill. Watch the game next time instead of the news the next day. We didn't loose that game either, it was a draw.

Now Australia/Italy... Don't get me started.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Perhaps Rooney should of gone down as Steven Gerrad had in a previous game?  Perhaps England didnt have enough protction from the ref, Perhaps England should of scored more goals?  At the end of the match its penalties. As we have seen on tv in the uk, Lampard is shitting himself, Ronaldo is kissing the ball.  At that point (penalties) I had the impression England didnt belive they could do it.  10 men, theres ya chance ya still in with a shout (minus Rooney in next match) and .......... out on penalties.

You can make all the excuses for Rooney saying he was provoked and the ref should of stopped play but you cant do the 3 following things and  not break a serious rule in football.

1. Stamp / stood on groin  (debatable)
2. Stamp/ stood on ankle ? (debatable)
3. Raise arms and push an opponent in the chest.

The ref could of sent him off for any of the 3.

You can only defend a professional footballer so much . It isnt just Rooneys fault,  England havent looked as good as any team still left in it.  5 games in and they still looked like they did before the tournament started.  Its a shame as the current bunch of players have had a shit manager to work with and I don't see Macca being much better, or did Sven tell him shut up, sit down?  £25m in wages and 3 qtr finals.  Given our experience on "Football Manager" I'd say most of us could have a go with that bunch of players. (thats if any of you have played)

Beckam got wound up and sent off vs the Argies  before and he was blamed , the same should happen for Rooney because if it turns him into a better player like it did with Beckam, Rooney will add something else to his game.  Rooney should of learned that lesson, how many times have or even did we see Beckam put an arm around Rooney about 2 years ago.  He hadnt learned a thing, Beckam would of talked to Rooney through what went through his mind and how we regretted it and warned him of the dangers.

wrong the ref should have yellow carded. However i dont believe that would have changed the matchs outcome, i didnt believe in England because they dont believe in themselves you can see in the way they play.

I bet whoever is looking after Ronaldo's house is probably crapping themselves right now....! You know there is going to a grief-stricken lunatic bent on revenge just waiting aside for the right moment!!!

In terms of the game, Portugal were stale and had to rely on their gamesmanship to get them through once again. Mind you, i suppose having such a sparse World Cup history as Portugal do, they are desperate to improve it by any means!!! Mind you, it is great to see an all European semi line-up... maybe a sign of things to come??? The South American stranglehold could be over!!!

Im not wrong, it's an opinion.  Fifa have backed the ref so they neither feel it's wrong when someone stands on someone and then pushes him in the chest.  You see our view is just our personal opinion its no coincedance that my opinion is shared by many other here in Wales.  The ref's view isnt an opinion, its factual.  Its his job to make sure the laws of football are upheld.  It dosen't matter what he says it goes, even school boys know this so professional footballers should.

The headbutt from ronaldo on rooney was probably just to wind him up.

I've played plenty of football matches against my friends and have always wound them up and vice versa.

When you get frustrated you're more likely to do something wrong. In that case, rooney lost his cool. stamped on a player (which is a red card straight). Rooney deserved to go, Ronaldo cant be to blame for this.

It seems at least BA's marketing department have been quick to try and capatlise from Englands exit.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal … 138062.stm

One day im sure it will come home, one day.  Wether Wales qualify by then is another question.  Im sure though we will still have a crap league, won't be able to attract foreign managers with £25m over 6 years and football will still be the number 2 sport here behind, egg chasing.
