How so? Science just keeps telling me that all the stories in your bible are fictitious or giving scientific explanations to how some of the fantastic events may have happened. I was a church going catholic up until a few years ago when too many things just did not add up. The plausibility of a deity just doesn't make sense to me, You believe what you want, I'll believe what I want, Neither one of us can force the other to change his mind.... Anywho, humans don't live that long so we'll all find out in say 60 years?

Whats "all the stories in your bible" mean? I can think of two that science has shown unlikely to happen(flood and the long day). Id probably be an atheist to if i were raised catholic. Putting "holy water" on my head, praying to mary, and asking a child molester for forgiveness would look like traditions made by people. Your right, we will all find out soon
Old post, but, the Bible is the most accurate historical document ever found. If you ever cared to read it, you would know this.CameronPoe wrote:
People - the bible is not a reliable historical document. It was written with a political agenda in mind (Emperor Constantines). Josephus was a historian of the time and documents found at Nag Hammadi and Qumran are more reliable than the new testament.

Let's just say, their practice isn't Biblically correct.
As the story goes, Jesus didn't have to die. He could've left the area, but he chose to stay and kick the bucket.
Lolz, "biblically correct". Aren't catholics the original christians?CrazeD wrote:

Actually that's a yes, if you look at it a vast majority of all Christian denominations branch out from the original church in Rome, which is the Catholic Church. Protestants broke from the Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox split from the Catholic ChurchCrazeD wrote:

JaMDuDe, saying all priests are child molesters is unjust profiling. It would be like me saying that all government officials take bribes and the such.
Now on the topic of this thread, Jesus had to die inorder for him to complete his mission here of Earth, so He is to blame for His own death. (Though a few high priests were a tad too happy to kill him)

That is a rather laughable statement. I can't believe you just stated that the bible was the most accurate historical document ever found. OMG.CrazeD wrote:

PS THe Roman Catholic Church is THE original chruch. All other churchs are just bastardisations of the original Constantine-influenced form of christianity. I'm not defending catholicism or promoting it, cos I'm a hardcore atheist, but I'd just like to set the record straight.

I put other. It wasn't the "jews" who killed him, as this implies all the jewish people wanted him dead. It was the pharisees, the high jewish priests who wanted him dead because he was a threat to their wealth and power. True, they were jewish, but it is inaccurate to simply say "it was the jews" as this implies all jews had something to do with it. And in case you're wondering, no I am not jewish, and yes I am a history major.
