Absolutely.joker3327 wrote:
The best Army in the world would be
American Money
British Soldiers
German Officers
and yes I was one of the 3 and have worked with the other 2
Americans think they're the best army, but really all they have is the money to give their soldiers the best equipment. Their actual soldiers and training are sub-par.
The SAS are great, but they are still semi-mercenary, so who knows what they'd be doing in a world war.
There is a rather large difference between the British SAS and the Australian SASR. If you think that Wales (I've been to Wales...) has an unpredictable environment, I ask you to come to Australia's Kimberly region during the "Summer" which is called the Wet season/Monsoonal season here. A similar trek to what you described is done for entry into the Australian SASR... Only it is done over roughly 70km (varies, depending on the navigational abilities of each soldier) in 40+ degrees C heat in a desert environment. That is along with another three weeks of testing.KingMchris wrote:
Ok i don't know what any other armies do.
But the British SAS not the Aussies version (i don't know much what the differenciation is), have a final test for Selection, basically to get onto the training they have a final test of a 64 kilometre trek in and around wales which is a very high and unpreictable environment within 24 hours.
And if they pass this that only gets them onto training.
They are the Elite.
And i can be proud to say i'm british for that fact and ONLY that fact. Good day
SASR Training info (not heavily detailed)
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I voted U.S. Army even though from personal experience I'm not quite sure it is the best trained military overall. Certain elite units are indeed excellent in action, but the other million Soldiers might not level up.
Slightly OT; I found the first part of The Soldier's Code (a five part piece we had to memorize during training). We had to recite it nearly every day.
"I am an American soldier
A protector of the greatest nation on earth
Sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States"

I find this whole 'USA is so much better trained than YOUR chosen army' BS.
Which army were the words 'friendly fire' first adopted by? (the words weren't needed, because another word already described the action, it just wasn't understood by the people performing it)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friendly_fire
Go look at the estimates by the Pentagon.
[snip]Invasion of Afghanistan (2002): 4 (13%) *note* fatalities were Canadian Soldiers, not American. Caused when a US fighter pilot dropped a 500 lb (228 kg) bomb while Canadian soldiers were performing a live fire exercise on April 17, 2002[/snip]
US forces killed one of their own generals, sunk on of their own ships, and damaged another ship, and sank a French Submarine in World War 2. This might explain their reluctance to engage in wars involving the USA, too much fratricide.
Yeah, best trained.. Ok.
Before you pm/karma me with abuse, put facts on the table proving why I'm so wrong.

ok i really don't care that you all THINK that the U.S. is poorly trained cause if we were a superpower and had bad training we would get our asses kicked in every war....just because we have a lot of money and get the best equiptment doesn't mean we don't train....we spend billions of dollars in training and have the best training...LIKE i said you all can talk about how the U.S. does not have that good of training because I don't care because your wrong so i really don't care.
you can't be a military super power and not have good training
Dont even need to post...shit...[netsas]knight wrote:
U.S.A i would say have the biggest and the most well equipped but i still reckon as a unit the UK S.A.S are the best in the world followed by the Seals .
So my opinion doesn't count? By that statement nor does yours. And nor does anyone elses.bigp66 wrote:

Go look at that link I posted.
[snip]Many, especially those in Britain, hold the view that the US has a severe record of friendly fire. The popular opinion is that the US is more likely to injure its own or its unfortunate allies, the British, than anyone of an opposing army. However, a much more accurate view is that the United States, as a world superpower, is simply more likely to have "friendly fire" events because the US is much more likely to be involved in combat operations.[/snip]
You spend billions, you fight more than anyone else, and the experience and training still doesn't reduce friendly fire. Either your training ain't so 'top' or you don't give a shit about killing allies.
In closing, keep your childish 'we're the best because I say so' opinion quiet, there is no fact to back up WHY you have the best training there, only pride/patriotism, which there is nothing wrong with. Just don't mar it with your ignorance.
Honestly, if it's particular units you are talking about, the Delta Force takes the cake. The SAS is an excellent and lethal fighting force, don't get me wrong, but the Deltas go through the most intense training of any unit on the planet. But then their existance is very hushed so it's hard to know many details about them.
I WATCHED A DOCUMENTORY ON THE BRITISH ARMY and they where on about the war and training for it and the british soldiers are the best trained in the world with the most rigerous trianing ever, thats why iraqi army was sent to britian to train..to get the best possible, and if you think imy lying then you gotta lot of researching to do my friend...
for quality is the best
quantity is no where near
one of the most modern armies out there

Army isn't about technologies, it is about ppl, mind and culture. About soldiers will to sacrifice.
I accept Germany too.

about russia... lets see... killing their own guys in WW2 since they are "cowards" russia makes good stable weapons, but now it doesnt have a good army to compete w/ nations like the US.
We ninjas kicked chuck norrises ass, i witnessed it when i was a boy in my home town... the forign american devil chuck norris wanted to burn our town, but our ninja master kicked his ass by yelling sepeku.

Actually the Spetsnaz were very good...whilst they had a country and were getting paid......when everything fell apart so did they ...thats what I was told by a former spetsnaz officer working as a mercenary in Bosnia...but they were good non the lesssdlettonieCZLV wrote:

I seem to recall a time about 230 years ago when the Britain had "the best army in the world" and also AGAIN about 36 years later. Well, we saw how that turned out.
Theres no doubting that that the USA has by far the biggest and best armed forces on earth but they rely heavily on technology (which often lets them down) and money (the country and therefore the countries armed forces are basically owned by the corporations) If we're talking about the best trained then it has to be Great Britain or Israel.
Britain has many hundreds of years of history (something the US certainly doesn't have), many of it spent at war with someone or other, for this reason Britain has the best disciplined and one of the best trained armies in the world. As for comparing Special Forces (how many times have we heard this discussion and how many people are speaking from experience), nothing comes close to the SAS and SBS. Give a Delta or Ranger a bergen and tell them to do Pen Y Fan and they'll shit in their pants - The Rangers don't come close to the Parachute Regiment in terms of training and they aren't even considered Special Forces.
Israel has been at war for pretty much the entire duration of it's existence - what better way to be trained to the highest standards.

I love this thread. Just about everyone in here is completly biased in their opinions. I especially love the posts about how one country's special forces couldn't even do any of the other country's special forces tasks or training. How the hell would you know? Have you personally trained in that exact manner with the other said countrys military. Most likely not. Its like comparing an apple and some kind of fruit nobody's ever tasted or seen before.
Not sure if you're referring to me or not but yes i have trained with the USMC, Rangers, SBS and Royal Marines - hoping to meet the IDF some time soon.millhous wrote:

People make a jibe at the British armed forces of the time, because of the 'Revolution'.
I suppose you'll credit al-Qaeda and their chums with getting one over on all of us then after the events of the last 6 years?
No? Bit too recent for you?
How about the Vietcong kicking the USA's arse?
Moral? Don't rub someones nose in it when your country has been made to look like a nub too.
Edit: tried to make it a little less offensive to some.
