For obvious security reasons I have the internet zone under internet explorer set tighter than a victorian virgins chastity belt.

However, this damn EA downloader insists on it being lowered just for that.
Does anyone know the site addresses EA downloader uses so i can put them in the trusted sites zone?

I plan to buy EF and AF, but no way in hell am I lowering the internet zone for some poorly programmed software.

Just try adding EA.com to the local intranet section using the sites option in advanced settings.

Only lower it for downloading and setting it back right after that?
Download it on a other pc and copy it to your game pc?

Tried that, also tried watching what it connects to using netstat and adding them into the trusted zone too.
Tempted to dig out ethereal and trying that next, but i'm beginning to increasingly think it's a hard coded check on startup that refuses to run it unless your internet zone is lowered to medium.

Not a chance in hell i'm lowering security on my machine for some poorly written software.

EDIT:

So it isn't like steam in that in order to play the games you first need to start it?

you need to be online to play (but maybe it's an ingame check and not an EA dler check)
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

No it is not. EA Downloader is just for downloading. You can also initiate the installation from Downloader as well but an internet connection is not even required for that. And, you can also use Downloader to change the BF2 account that the Booster Packs are linked to.

You DO NOT need to have EA Downloader running in order to play the Booster Packs.

That is correct.

I have EA Downshitter off all the time other than to download patches or boosters.  Other wise that crap is off and exitted.  Not even running in the background.
