oh my god, stupidity never ceases to amaze me, this is not aimed at any of you, but how the hell can making headless clones than attaching your head make you live for longer, can you not see that a heart trasplant alone has a very large chance of death and you only need to connect like 4 viens/arteries for a brain you need to connect a spinal cord and the brain dies after only like 20 seconds after being severed from the body, plus all your nerves are going to be compleatly screwed up even if you can reatach the spinal cord as every persons nerves are in slightly different places to another person so logically if you get a pin prick on your hand yopu may get pain felt in other parts of the body and this is the least of your problems as all your neurons that controle how your muscles move will be movers so it would take like 9-10 years to learn how to walk again, but this might even be impossible as your brain stops growing after like 18 years so you wouldnt be able to learn how to use your new body and would be reduced to being able to spasm random muscles, ok so you would be alive but man would it suck.

That's exactly why surgery during cryonic preservation must be mastered (oh, that and cryonic rejuvenation). In order for immortality to be reach fruition, we must master surgery at sub-fucking-zero temperatures. What you do is you have a clone farm, remove their spinal cords and heads, and voi la, plop yours right in there with some state of the art procedures and you are good to go (provided that neurodegenerative diseases = kill't...+ all other diseases in duh verld).

Actually, you've got two options for immortality by which I mean the ability to extend one's life indefinitely (immortal literally means "one not subject to death" - so it implis that whilst you might suffer the temporary effect of dying, you could always be returned to life again with no ill effects):
Your best bet for immortality lies in the ability to capture an individual's "essence" (i.e. personality, behaviour etc) and transplate that into a new body. Of course it raises interesting questions about which characteristics are physical and which are mental - for instance; if you transplant the "essence" of an individual with an iq of 80 into a body and brain cloned from a genius would they remain at iq 80 when transplanted or would they become much smarter by vitue of their physical host? Oddly enough the same might apply to a physically disabled person transplated into the body of an olympic athlete - would they have to "learn" to walk or would the hardwired motor controls in the physical brain be enough to enable them to move?
Cells are programmed to self destruct via degenerative replication however, recent research has shown this is controlled by a DNA pair which can be switched off. I'm fairly certain researchers in the UK have done this with skin cells. So another possibility would be some kind of drug that would supress the degenerative replication of the body.
Of course, all of this opens humanity up to some possibilities we've never considered before. At the simplest level consider how many health problems people have as the population becomes older. These have only become prevalent since people started to live regularly beyond 70. Control over the physical which either approach requires would eradicate diseases of age and aging, but what about mental health? this is an impossibility, our "essence" is formed by the physical makeup and design of the brain, you cannot transport your "essence" without transplanting the brain, if what you mean is that you would clone a person then using somesort of device create the exact same nural passages as in the original brain thus providing the subject with the same memories and personality, but this dosnt make it the same person it would just think it was, the original person would die anyway there would just be a new person with the same persona, but this would be plaiged with problems as the cloned brain would have to be at exactly the same stage of development as the original and therefore the same age thus we can conclude this entire idea is fataly floored and of no true sientific note.parthian1000 wrote:

this on the other hand is interesting, i agree that cells have a clock and generally can only divide roughly 50 times. at the moment scientists have been able to increase this by 20 or more times, and because cell population grows expenetialy this would be a lot of extra posible life, but doing this to every cell in the body would be disasterous as mostr cells have this limit for a reason, this reason being cancerous side effects, if the cells are dividing more then the bodie would grow in unpredictable ways, there is a reason why your hands stop growing, the same goes for your eyes, you do not want the cells in your eyes to keep growing.parthian1000 wrote:
