Heres a question for =OBS= EstebanRey:  Why do your posts concentrate on being critical of the US in one way or another?  Are you doing a degree on American culture, or are you just obsessive?

Well have a go back, he's from ol' blighty like myself, there must be loads you can have a go at us for..the weather to start with, our funny little cars, come on...To be honest I'm a bit bored of all the Iran/america bashing (ironic how it's almost exclusively those two countries that get bashed) so have a go at us for a change...

Having lived there for three years, I LIKE the UK.  Besides, I'm not into trashing a country for its own sake.  I don't like it when people trash my country, so I won't do it to another unless I have a legitimate gripe.

The thing about the welsh is  there women are fantastical sexy and gorgeous and have one of the most sexy accents on the planet  yet they still go for the sheep thing. I just don't get it...........baaaaa

How is this post critical of the US?  It is satire not critisism, there is a difference and I didn't make those videos, they are from a TV show called Brass Eye so maybe you should write to them.  If you also watched my videos, they also take the p*ss out of the British, especially the "Between Iraq and a hard place".  Even in these vids, the one about masturbation, Chris Morris does a stereotypical, tea-drinking Brit reporter.

Here's a question for you, why do some Americans on this site get angry or upset if I post a video that makes a joke out Bush, US gun culture etc etc.  I love the Simpsons and they are forever ripping the piss out of the British and although it is often naively stereotypical (The big book of British smiles etc) I don't get angry or feel my country has been attacked.  I have the ability to see it for what it is,  a joke!!!!!

Someone made the point in another topic that most people love the Americans as individuals. They are nice when you meet them and very hospitible.  However, it does not mean we have to like your foreign policy and we can disagree on homeland policies as well but some seem to have the opinion that if you don't like, or are critical, of just one aspect of America, then you are anti-American scum......

First of all, satire is a form of criticism.  But that isn't the problem in and of itself.  I'm happy to see satire on any subject, and criticism, in and of itself is fine.

My problem is, and it should be clear from my posts, that you appear to be entirely dedicated to your criticisms of America.  From what I have read (admittedly, not a comprehensive reading of your posts, but a significant cross-section nevertheless), it seems to be a focus for your life on this board.  WHY?  I am critical of my country, and other countries, but to hammer at it like you do seems obessessive; and sometimes over the most ridiculous details (really, who cares about the rules of crossing the street here?). 

Why do you piss people off?  Because nobody likes to hear incessant criticisms of themselves or their homes, even if some of them are true.  If you occasionally expressed positive thoughts, or even thoughts on other subjects, it would be less egregious.  But you appear (as do several others here) intent on painting the US as a world evil, to the exclusion of any other discussion.

As I said in another thread:  Give it a rest.

well this is obviously the most appropriate thread i have ever seen in the "debate and serious talk" section, I'm so glad it hasn't been shut down and mistaken for one of those foolish hate bating threads since it's critical of Americans
