I voted no. I feel the USA must achieve its set out goal of creating a free democratic Iraq. Regardless of what you feel about the justification for the war millions of Iraqis risked there lives to vote for this goverment. The new Iraq must succeed or it will fall into chaos or become the Taleban sequel. Islamic militants will become embolden and worse terrorism will come to the world.
Poll
Do you hope the USA will lose the war in Iraq?
Yes - They deserve to loose | 22% | 22% - 20
No - They must win | 67% | 67% - 59
Not Sure | 9% | 9% - 8 | ||||
Total: 87 |
what is this poll/thread hoping to achieve? This will end in another flame war.
how do you measure lose/win? can we ever win? i dont think so
No one does... what a stupid thread. Unless there are al-Qaeda who visit the BF2s forums.
A better poll would be whether you think the US will win it or not.

idiot
Most of the Iraqi people don't even want the US in their country.
we have allready won, pres Bush signed they papers after saddam got caught, we are just there to properly train the iraq troops, and when they have enough ppl to secure the area then we will move out but we can't just leave now, that country would crumble but I think before we move on we should make a stop over in Iran bc that getting ready to boil over into something huge
i hope we win but i kno as soon as we leave, iraq will regress/collapse back into the country it once was w/ a dictator.
lol it will just get people to argue again lolBN wrote:

im surprised at the amount of "America should lose" votes. damn.
[napdynamite]What kind of frickin poll is this, anyways? Gah![/napdynamite]

I'm unsure. On the one hand, a loss would make it a fertile recruiting ground for terrorists, on the other hand a win might make it look like the US is further entrenching itself in the Middle East and encourage people from other countries to become terrorists. I think no matter what happens, America lost as soon as it hit the ground.
And BN tried in vain to start the flame war he had previously predicted.BN wrote:

I think you're right. The true enemy is war itself, so you can't wage a war and win.
I'd love to just say we ought to pull out all the troops, and let them get on with killing each other, but that's both amoral, and just plain sticking your head in the sand. How long would it be before some crack pot dictator looney develops nuclear capability and becomes a real threat.
Losers
Like when the allies went in and stopped Hitler, and as soon as they left Germany went all to hell. Gimme a break.HeadShotAK47 wrote:

And yeah, theres no need for this poll.
Except that many Germans opposed Hitler, and there was no concerted guerilla effort against the Americans. As soon as America defeated the regular army, the bullets stopped flying. I don't see how people can continue to draw parallels between Germany and the Middle East.Ajax_the_Great1 wrote:

They already won the war, they haven't crushed the insurgency.

True, there wasn't guerrilla warfare after WWII. Whatever, I don't care. I don't embrace pessimism. And I will use past examples to show that just because things aren't always going your way that you can still win.Bubbalo wrote:

The war in Iraq ended 3 years ago. The longer the us and it's allies stay in Iraq then the more hatred will be directed in the US's direction. They should of gone in, eliminated Saddam and fucked off and let the country sort itself out.
Australia looses heavily in this because we can't remove our troops because we need US protection when we are attacked by Indonesia or China.

But things were going America's way in occupied Germany. In fact, things were going America's way basically as soon as they cranked their industry up.Ajax_the_Great1 wrote:

Fuck you all who hope we will lose. If your from other contries and hape we loose you have no respect for the greatest country in the world
Greatest by what definition?
There's a big difference between 'hoping' someone will lose and 'thinking' someone will lose.
For example, I think (with good reason) that Australia is going to get snapped when it plays Brazil on Monday. But I still hope they win.
Please think before posting next time.
