Im glad this thread was made. Today I was pretty pissed when no one seemed to give a shit about it. there has been 1 TV show on it the whole day, the rest of it is on that 666 shit.

It is pathetic that so few remember June 6th as D-Day.
June 6th should be for all veterans, regardless of which side they fought. They all made sacrifices. They did not fight for an ideal, but for their buddies next to them.

I agree, in those countries that celebrate it. It would, for example, be silly for Russians to celebrate D-Day, same as it would be silly for Americans to celebrate Feb. 2. Allied nations - Yes
Turkey - Yes, on the grounds that they were an honourable enemy, but I don't think they were allowed in the big march
Germany/Japan(/Italy?) - No, on the grounds that they were enemies. I think there were a few clubs which allowed Germans to march, but none which allowed Japan.

People dont forget the Ost company's that the germans forced to fight and die defending those beachs and dont forget the work that people put into making the equipment that all our soldiers used on those beach's. Most importantly dont forget the soldiers that died on those beach's.
