Being a Nazi was actually kinda trendy in pre 1940.
Lindenburg and other celebrities were sympathizers. Pro Nazi rallies were held in New York and 1000's showed up.
Besides, we all know America is the 4th Reich.

Seing as the Nazis only borrowed the symbol because its an ancient symbol meaning something like power of the sun originating from south or latin america (Aztec, Inca) - if i remember correctly and the US have always been fond of utilizing symbols.

Dont think it actually means the US Navy was particularly Nazistic at the present time, if you take into consideration that the building must have been planned years ahead of construction and that Hitler Naziparty didn`t adapt the swastika until the late 30`s. .......coincident if you ask me !
