I'd go for a good Beck's (Hometown Bremen beer) or o good guinness....smile
recent beers of note... some quite well known, some not.

Let us know which suggestions you have tried and those which you like.
I'd second the Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale. Good stuff. As for Canadian beers I'd rate Moosehead (which I see a picture of here!) pretty low on the scale.Nicholas Langdon wrote:

Oland's Export is my favorite but you can only get that in Nova Scotia...too bad. Keith's also makes a nice Red Lager...
I am not much of a drinker of anything, I never really found a tolerance for it, but if I do happen to drink a few on rare days, I like to go with Hefeweizen or a Corona, both with lemon.
When i was in egypt i was mostly drinking Sakara. Really nice. but i cant find any in the UK
Grafen Walder, belgian i think
I like just about any beer that comes in a green bottle.
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
Moylans, Moylander, double IPA is without a doubt the best double IPA anywhere. They also have a triple IPA the Hopsickle that is AWESOME, but hard to get. check them out at moylans.com but if it is hard for me to get here in San Diego it's going to be a lot harder for you
Big fan of Corona (with lime, obviously) or draught Bud. However, if you want to try something different try a Tsingtao ... its Chinese but tastes very Germanic (this is to do with the origins of the brewery and Weltpolitik but I won't bore you with that)

if you are ever in the USA and wind up in Pennsylvania. try anything by Yuengling, esp their lager. America's oldest brewery and still America's best

tried this at the weekend... beer from chicago.
without DOUBT, this is the most unique beer i have ever tasted! its prob not to everyones liking, and i would advise drinking it to get drunk [i fear the most almighty hangover would arise], but this is fine fine fine.
edit: did i mention its 5.9% ?

What about the nice darkie Spaten Optimator. That's my favorite. Tough to get out in my neck of the woods though.
I would reccommend just about any beer that is not American. No offence to any Americans on here, but your country could use some lessons on how to make a good beer.
Anyway, I am a huge fan of Belgian beer, but German beer is also excellent. All the varients of Leffe and Hoegaarden are nice, but they are much better known. Beers such as Chimay are very good, especially the Blau. I could go on for ages, but tbh, I can't be bothered, so basically, as long as it's Belgian or German, buy it, as it will generally be very good.

My God-father's brother created that beer. It's award winning and damn it's good. Anything by Rogue really. They make some of the best microbrews in the country and even world.HazelNut Brown Nectar is a nutty twist to a traditional European Brown Ale. Dark brown in color with a hazelnut aroma, a rich nutty flavor and a smooth malty finish. Dedicated to the homebrewer in each of us--the homebrewer who inspired this creation is Chris Studach, a friend of Rogue's resident wizard John Maier, who added a Northwest twist to the classic style by adding hazelnuts for the host homebrew at the 1993 American Homebrewers Association convention. Chris put the nut in nut brown!
Hazelnut Brown Nectar Ale is a blend of Great Western 2-row Pale, Munich, Hugh Baird Brown, Crystal 80 and Crystal 135, Carastan, and Beeston Pale Chocolate malts; hazelnut extract; Perle and Saaz hops. HazelNut Brown Nectar is available in a 22-ounce bottle, a special commemorative 3-litre bottle with ceramic swing-top, and on draft.
You can check the lengthy list of awards it has right here.

Peroni is great, aka Nastro Assuro.... they even serve it in McDonalds tho..
I like this thread. Too bad most of these mentioned beers are fucking hard to find here in Noo Zoilund.
My favourite, and thankfully accessable, would be the Montieths range, particularly Black.

^ Only pic I could find.
WORST beer, never ever touch this crap: Viking. It has the tagline "Conquer the taste" and you really really have to.
I think it's New Zealand's Viking beer, not Icelend's. If you see the tagline though, run!
