Okay so it's the build up to the 2006 Soccer World Cup. New Zealand of course didn't get in, (which I'm pretty stoked about actually, given how badly we would loose.)

So we get a consolation prize. We get a game versus Brazil in Europe before the World Cup starts.
Now why the hell would we get that? Well, after watching a piece on the news about it, mostly with people skiting about how badly we're gonna loose, Brazil made their reasons known.

They wanted a specific team as a warm-up match. this team had to:
- Not have qualified for the World Cup.
- Not have almost qualified for the World Cup, (so they wouldn't need to proove anything.)

This leads me to one conclusion.

The Brazillians wanted a team that they could so patheticly flatten as to intimidate their opponents. They chose us as the most pathetic team in the world and have the sole aim of beating us 50 nil, (which they're probably going to achieve,) JUST for the purpose of trying to intimidate the World Cup contenders.

I want to make one thing known.
- Don't let it intimidate you, worthy un-Brazillian World Cup contenders! New Zealand has and will always suck the big one in soccer, so no matter how badly we loose, (50 goals +,) don't buy into the Brazillian bullshit!

And one more thing for the game:

GO THE KIWIS!

N.B: I'm not a soccer fan, but I reckon that this was pretty low of Brazil.

The Brazilian football team isn't always as good as they're made out to be. In the last world cup they had a particularly difficult time defeating Belgium and truth be told, the Belgian team sucked back then (it sucked even more after that - they recently appointed a new national coach and he's completely reorganizing the team now).
Heh I remember one of our players kicking against the ball and it ended up bouncing of Ronaldo's chest. Ronaldo saw the referree's attention wasn't focused on him so he immediately grabbed his groin and twisted his facial muscles as if the ball had hit his precious parts at high speed, just so the ref would see foul play and hand the ball over to the Brazilians.

you should try playing it and see if its like that, some teams you se on TV try to con the ref into free kicks ect, but when you play at amature level like me, its broken legs , kicks to the face, and i dont know how many times ive ben in crutches with damage to my legs, also one of my team mates had to get 38 stitches on his thigh because someone ripped his leg open with their studs, not nice and quite a tough sport when you arent getting paid 100000 of pounds a week and are wrapped in cotton wool, hardly a week goes by in my league where there isnt a fight of some sort, more like your hockey

Don't think it was a tactic to intimidate other world cup opponents, because (No offence meant) other countries will realise that NZ pose no threat. England have just played Jamaca and beaten them 6 - 0, same applies, no other country will believe that Jamaca pose a threat. These matches will have been arranged to boost Brazils + Englands team spirit and confidence before the kick off next week.

i hate watching soccer on TV, and i hate training soccer, but i LOVE playing it just for fun with my friends... and tyferra i'm sure that new zealand ain't the worst soccer team in the world, i'm from the faroe islands and the first match we won was in the late 80s or early 90s... and we still hear about it everytime we play a match...

On the subject though, i am sure they didnt pick New Zeland just so they could thrash them. I think they probably picked them to get an idea of the Southern Style of football before they come up against The Socceroos (OZ).

Yeah. Where do you think the "Zealand" in New Zealand came from? Able Tasman was a Dutch explorer who discovered NZ. He came from Zeeland.
