The german News Magazine "Der Spiegel" (The Mirror) tried to get an Interview the Iran's President Ahmadinejad since he was elected into his Office in August 2005. On May 19, Ahmadinejad agreed to an Interview with the "Der Spiegel" Magazine and the Interview took place four days later in Iran's Capital, Teheran.
The Interview was published on May 29. After reading the Interview, I recognized some Features in his Character that reminded me of a Dictator that died by suicide in a bunker beneath Berlin.

I regret, that I can't offer you a english written source of that Interview, nevertheless my Question stands.

Is Iran's President Ahmadinejad a new Adolf Hitler?

No way - he has the same motives, but a much 'smaller' brain. Hitler was extremely clever and subtle in the buildup to WWII - no-one suspected a thing about him until about 1935.

simple answer ? no, he isn't.

he hates jews and rejects the idea of Israel , but that is not uncommon for islamic fundamentalists.

I'd have to read the whole interview in Der Spiegel, before I'd want to comment further.

Uh......there were a number of people who knew what was coming (Stalin, Churchill, parts of the upper brass in America), they just weren't powerful enough to do anything (except Stalin, who wanted a war).  And Ahmadinejad does *not* have the same motives.  For one, Hitler was secular.  I also feel you don't give him enough credit.  He knows America would be stupid to invade, and so far he's managed to look like he's willing to talk whilst the Americans are not.

If that were the case then he'd be breaking out the Zyklon B on the jews in his own country, of which there are many. They have lived in peaceful coexistence with their fellow persians for decades. Again - one must be careful to differentiate between general terms. A zionist is a jew but a jew may not necessarily be a zionist. Ahmedinejad's gripe is with the injustice suffered by the Palestinians and the fact that the third holiest shrine in Islam is now pretty much under the control of a zionist theocracy (although it masquerades as a democracy). 'Jews' do not necessarily equal 'Israelis' nor do they necessarily equal 'Zionists'. Amhmedinejad wants Israel wiped off the map, not jews wiped from the earth. As such, there is no comparison between him and Hitler.

maybe the build up but during the war he made some dumb decisions (good ones from our point of view, because he lost because of them)

Based on the fact that he isn't running around kicking out and killing the ones in his country?  I want all hardline conservative dumbasses wiped off the map, that doesn't mean I'm going to go on a killing spree.

But mainly because the rest of the world was too busy. Britain and France were doing major rebuilding, the Soviets were in an even worse shape, shown by the Nazi-Soviet Non-Agression Pact, and the US was practising it's isolationism. They appeased his actions because they just couldn't be arsed to fight back. Now however the 'good guys' are not in the same condition, and so Hitler would have a harder time today.

That's not the issue atm, the issue is does he intend to wipe Israel off the map before killing all the Jews.

Typical bait and switch, same tactics North Korea is using. We want to talk, but not to you. But we want to talk to you, but by yourselves...etc....

He is using stalling tactics to keep his nuclear program running at full steam. Every now and again he says something stupid to put everyone on edge, then it goes away.

That interview is classic, he tries to reverse every question, whle trying to avoid having to answer any of them himself.

Hitler like, in some regards. I think he read his history though, much as he doesn't want to admit it.

who says that isnt his intentions? if he had the menpower he would have done it by now, why do u think he wants to start a nuclear program?

I believe that if Israel was out of the way then Iran and the rest of the Middle East would be able to have cordial relations with Washington. Their gripe is with the US' unswerving support for Israel. Take them out of the equation and the world would be a slightly more peaceful place. Iran could never attack USA and if they did they'd be fucked and they know it so - No Israel, No Problem.

Don't flame me for being 'anti-Israeli' - I do believe in a 2-state solution to their situation and that a predominantly jewish land needs to exist (a truly democratic egalitarian one though - not if it means Palestinians are going to be treated like an 'untermensch').

Eh, I just don't get when those guys draw cartoons of Mohammed, it's ok because it's free speech, but when he asks Iranian cartoonists to draw cartoons about the Holocaust, it's horribly anti-Semitic. Both are wrong, but Israel gets that special protection of being able to label just about anyone who is anti-Zionist anti-Semitic as well.

Condemn both, or chalk both up to free speech.

And just because he's a charismatic leader doesn't make him the next Hitler.

Just because he doesn't like Jews' and claims the Holocaust never existed doesn't make him an Adolf.

He hasn't killed hundreds of thousands of Jews'. (Yet?)

I don't think you can claim he "hates jews". His largest motive for such statements that are seen to be radical, is that he sees that the creation of Israel was extremely unjust, and that such a development should've been made inside Europe (as "they are the ones who created this Jewish problem", in essence at least). He reminds me Ann Coulter and her deliberately "extreme" statements, except she is using it for publicity and Ahmadenijad seems to actually hold regularity in such a thought process. All in all, such a move is irrational to make (relocation of an entire nation), besides it being made legitimately made (Ottoman Empire dissolved [WW1]; territory and administration over Palestine handed to Great Britain; UK makes moves for establishment of Hebrew/Jewish national home).

Essentially, the interview was very enlightening to the type of propaganda (if not just blatant misunderstanding) that the media has on Ahmadenijad.

There should be the option of "No, but he is quite irrational."
