Napoleon - You needed to know all the history to get it/10

And you needed to know exactly which outfit was worn by which person at which time in history to be able to figure out who they were.

Just a little bit of commentary or extra information would have been helpful to tell who was a german prince, austrian ambassador, etc.

Otherwise it was spectacular, I enjoyed the bit where he was walloped by the British, although leaving out Trafalgar was just a teeny gap.

Since I have Disney Plus I binge watched a bunch of MCU with my girlfriend after Christmas break.

Disney has a feature in their MCU section where they put all of the shows in a timeline of when they happened in the universe starting with Captain America in the 40's.

The movies aren't bad but mostly forgettable. I wouldn't go out to watch any of these or get interested in the MCU canon.

I most liked the Captain America movies. I least liked the Iron Man. I have a feeling that RDJ's Tony Stark will be one character that really doesn't age well. He reminds me of the tech billionaires in Silicon Valley in a bad way.

The Marvels IDK 6/10?

The bit with the cats was OK, the lesbian bi-curious BFF theme was a bit weird, more creative effort went into the singing scene than the actual villain.
Also Brie Larsson seems to have lost weight, this is not good.

On the plus side the cat has new names: 'Annihilator' and 'The Universal Destroyer'

I like Arrival, its one of my comfort-watch films.

I can't get past the first hour of Dune Part 1. Slow and boring

I had no problem watching Dune.

Some of the dialogue was unintelligible but thats films these days.

It certainly helped to have read the book.

It was actually OK, and I gave up on Fury Road after about 10 minutes.

I finally got around to watching the original Purge. I was actually a bit excited given the somewhat unique premise, but the movie was so so bad.

Why was the boyfriend there? Both in the house (was he there to shoot the dad), but also in the actual movie? His character was completely pointless. Why did the son making a point during dinner to take his blood pressure and pulse if it wasn't going to be used later? SO many pointless things like that throughout the movie. It's like a 15 year old directed it.

we live in a slop era. gladiator ii is pure slop. it was inaugurated by dullards like you celebrating boring, unimaginative franchise movies. of course we are getting sequels to perfectly 'okay' hollywood movies, 25 years after the fact, from equally bored and uninspired human tediums like ridley scott. you ruminants get the slop provender you deserve.

the recent crossover of lady gaga with terrible maladjusted adolescent comic movies, and the predictably awful result, is almost too on the nose ... we are truly living in dilbert's world. slop!

ridley scott could have been remembered as one of the solid hollywood directors of the late-20th century studio system. great at big movies with big budgets. but his last few films have been total duds. the ambition of a napoleon movie should scream 'late style passion project' but instead he delivered pure slop.

a man with his successes and money doesn't need to be making shitty movies like that. for a household name director to be consistently producing 6/10 on imdb or 50% metacritic movies at the end of his career is sad. every single thing he has made in the 2020s, if not the last decade, has been slop or worse. when was the last decent movie he was involved in? 'the martian', in 2015? he could have enjoyed an extra decade of retirement instead of getting out of bed in the morning to serve us 'alien: romulus'.
