My manager is presenting my suggestions to senior management as his ideas and doesn't even have the gumption to come up with a good lie about it.
"The CEO came up with this and suggested it to me" Yeah I don't think so, the CEO is a numbers man and stays out of nuts and bolts stuff.
"So tell me more about this idea, what are the actual practicalities?" "Uh, dunno"
If I can be bothered I'll fuck him up.

Also had an hour long meeting with him where he babbled non-stop, a couple of us were able to interject, the chinese girl - who works her ass off - wasn't able to say a single word. This has happened a few times and its taking a toll.

I know people have issues, I may become one of them.

I literally work a few hours a week and ignore half my meetings. Why do they keep me on.

We switched to a 9/80 schedule so I get every other Friday off. My golf game is going to improve significantly!

For once karma seems to have worked a bit - the guy who has done a shit job the last couple of years and smugly presided over disaster after disaster has been moved sideways and given responsibility for clearing up the disasters he's presided over.
Good chance he'll try to delegate it to me and everyone else but thats not happening. I helped him before and he fucked me over.

Another bit of karma, I spent a year solid clearing up a fucked up project as above and got a solid kick in the teeth in return, now its dead in the water again because they've got a new batch of a particular part and the product no longer works.
No-one can figure out the problem or how to put a specification on the part to fix it.
Some nebulous resistance/inductance/capacitance/frequency response thing which has to mesh perfectly with two other equally opaque components for the product as a whole to work.
The supplier has supplied two batches to spec which don't work and they're fucked off. People are flying to Singapore, China etc to try to get it working and working parts made but no joy so far.
This is fun to watch at least, some of the complacent dimwits who have been dicks are looking pretty wan.

According to my maths I could probably retire as of now. It would be risky, I'm treating current and future income as a bonus, not working too hard and not taking any shit.
All in all working is better than not working, it gets me out of the house and I can buy nice toys.

Anybody in a supervisory or managerial role will only listen to you if you compliment them. If you suggest changes, they'll ignore you. If you tell them they suck, they'll write you up.

Very few people are idealists, give a shit about doing the right thing or a good job.

They want to maintain the gravy train, the social order with them at the top of it.
I mean look at Boris Johnson or Keir Starmer, they're practically the same person. Same for most people in the workplace.

Working towards admin is kind of boring. You need to be on your best behavior at all times. Constantly working and pushing. A big part of me wants to stop doing it and just spend my time and energy nailing girls on dating apps.

An engineer got put on a PIP and put in their two weeks the next day. Fun.

Never had someone on a PIP willingly stay.

Never put someone on a PIP that I didn't intend to let go.

But also, a PIP is a very clear way to communicate expectations, and should be a clear road map on how to improve. If you are put on a PIP and hit all the requirements/goals, you will not get fired.

If anyone puts me on a PIP I'll be out of the door as soon as I've picked up my stuff.

The PIP was probably sincere in this case but the guy really missed the south and warmth.

This is the third one I've witnessed here? They all seemed sincere and the first 2 made no changes during the PIP period. Current guy put 2 weeks in and has made a concerted effort for a good handoff of everything. My place has no issue straight up firing people.
