Would you like another story from work? It is about a parent punching a 17 year old.
Spent a nice morning of WFH clearing my inbox and sent items and checking on the things I should have followed up but didn't.
Short summary:
I get a lot of work done and am efficient in my work and communications.
My company does not deserve me.

I spent yesterday and today clearing my inbox too! I went from being about a week behind to being up to date. Feels great.
I went from being what felt like six months behind to only two.

The activities director asked me to pick a kid for a free Christmas photo shoot. I managed to find a kid pretty quickly. A student I had last year is getting a free Christmas photoshoot with their family because of me.
And did you bring enough free photoshoots for everyone?
The guy I share a classroom with, the creepy poster guy in therapy, told me he is bisexual today.
We were hanging out in my classroom at the end of the day today. I had invited him to the social studies Christmas party even though he wasn't in our department. It wasn't really a party but just a bunch of people came out to the local bar and got fucked up.
It was a good time and he fit in well.
We were chit chatting about the girl teachers at the party and talking about the hookups and crushes we have in our building. That's how his thing came up. He said he can't match with any women on regular dating apps but gets tons of matches on Grindr. He said he likes them feminine. Also trans. He said he has a date with a "woman" tonight.
I am actually happy for him. Like, I rather he screw men than be an incel or something.
I will just double make sure not to eat or drink after him. He should probably do the same for me too.

I thought you became pro-trans in recent years, mac.
I have. I said I feel happy him. I rather he make memories with femboys instead of being an incel/dork in his 20s like many.
I like that he thought I was cool enough of a guy to open up about that. I assume his therapist encouraged him to go to the party after I invited him.
I am a nice guy outside of my own philandering.

Lol either incel or gay. You have the social outlook of a socially retarded yokel. Never change, Mac

I am being supportive. I don't know what you guys are upset about. Applaud my tolerance.
Graduate engineer has already fucked things up.
He thought the best way to get his robot program working was to de-register the robot, without checking that he could re-register the robot.
The first problem is he didn't think to ask for advice, the second problem is that having fucked it up instead of asking for advice he went wandering through the network looking for random license files and sticking them in the robot in the hope they'd work.
Actually the very first problem was that de-registering a robot because your code doesn't work is not a bright idea.
If its your very first time writing code for a robot and the code doesn't work maybe its you and your code and not the robot.
It would be bad enough doing this to a PC - I don't know how to use this program, I'll just uninstall it and see if that helps, do we have the install files? - On industrial equipment it can get really tricky, if you fuck things up they can easily be unrecoverable.
It doesn't help that the department is in chaos and has been for years, the original files weren't stored in an identifiable location, the robot supplier's help pages and re-registration pages are currently down.
Now I need to use the robot and this is annoying.
Are all millenials going to be like this? Fuck my life.

Robot? Are you building a Terminator?
Why would I not be building a Terminator?

Also if I hear "sorry, we don't support that model any more, have you tried the forums?" again there could be trouble.

Companies should support their products.

My job is quickly falling apart (it's a startup so... whatever).
I applied to a job and the recruiter got back to me for a phone screen. He had one of those sites where you can pick a time and it auto-schedules it for them and I looked at it assuming the week I was looking at available times was this week. Normally I try to set it up as soon as possible to get ahead of everyone else so I made it for what I thought was Wednesday Jan 24th.
I looked a minute later at the confirming email and I had made it for Wednesday the 31st. Panic then set in because that's a full week out and I could swear I saw plenty of options for this week in his available times.
This morning I emailed the recruiter and said to the effect "Hey if you want to do it sooner, I'm game, but if not I'm happy to keep it as-is."
He got back and said he could move it up to this Friday, which is ultimately what I wanted originally but now I'm thinking he had to move some meetings around to accommodate me and the available options I was originally looking at were indeed all next week and now I'm coming off like an ass AND desperate (former may be true but I can lie, latter isn't quite true - not yet at least)
I guess I just need to apologize in the phone screen and make it through because as long as I talk to the hiring manager I should be okay since it falls to his/her hands then and the recruiter doesn't have much say (nor care I'd imagine)

Can you get a job with Dilbert to build SkyNet?
you're overthinking it.pirana6 wrote:

I'm sure the recruiter hasn't given it a second thought, if he did he's already forgotten about it.
