I had a great experience with Origin, but I just used it to launch games.
@rthki It's all downhill from here.
@mac
TNO mod for HoI4 has some deepfake Red Alert Wolfenstein AI documentaries going on. You were definitely missing out by not trying mods for this game.

Since you love naval invasions so much, it apparently has Antarctica.

re: steam
Love having to sign onto friends just so i can right click the steam icon in the system tray to launch a recently played title. Why are those connected? I just want to make one change to my logistics network in Dyson Sphere Program before getting back to my day, not broadcast myself as online. Workaround I guess is to flip invisible before exiting the platform.

I have friends lists turned off completely. Who gives a shit what I'm playing and why do I give a shit what someone else is playing? Steam starts with my OS and by the time I can do anything on my machine, the icon is in the bottom right. My first click of the day can be to right-click the icon and with a second click of the game I can be playing.
I have people on my steam list I went to college with or knew in the aughts. It's nice being able to chat outside of your usual social media platform, or phones. Can't really say I have many long convos with most of the others on my list where we added in a game.
Probably one of the main sticking points to steam is that besides the library and not wanting to split game libraries too much across multiple services, there's people I know on there. It's too bad that friends list and chat are still plagued by occasional gremlins, as it was put. Wait too long to open a window after logging onto steam, might have to restart steam to get opening chats to respond. Been like that for years, and at this point it's like a creaky floorboard.

I have never noticed any dramas with steam friends
I noticed you're having steam issues. Must just be you plagued with gremlins. Download more ram.
I fell to the peer pressure, but it's very fun

Porn without asking? I don't see the issue.
I bought Crusader Kings 3 during the steam sale. I have tried many paradox strategy games and not clicked with them, including CK2. I stopped playing it like I was playing Total War and just decided to choose a humble duke and serve my liege and my church well and grow my dynasty. Almost immediately my brother and king Harold got fucked up by William the conqueror before I even relised what was going on. I proceeded to suck willies dick pretty hard. I did this so my children won't have to. This is my dynasty. I know how to play this game now.
Last night I kept having repeating dreams about what to do next to further my dynasty. This must be what mac spends 1000s of hours doing.

check your uplay account, folks
Ubisoft comes under fire for confirming it wipes inactive accounts - taking all your games with it

(e: turns out, they aren't(?), but it wouldn't have surprised me)

Just achieved my first "Perfect" game on Steam by getting all the achievements for Blasphemous. Now I'm just waiting for the sequel to come out on the 24th.
this made me want to wait until go deep on sale ...
in its dubious defense, i wasn't really expecting space sim flavor, and it would be darn pretentious if you had to spend 15 minutes landing and finding your way offboard for the dubious content and limited areas of the planets you'll run into.
loading screen spam is a very 2000s and bethesda ip way of doing things, and starfield looks like a very day one bethesda ip release. at this point, if anyone who's been at this for awhile doesn't expect a take-and-bake state of affairs, they've really only themselves to blame.
there's also been some videos comparing starfield unfavorably with cyberpunk and even skyrim, in ways that feels more poignant to what i think starfield was trying to do:
beanie's seen some stuff, it's gonna take more than that to ruffle.
this is what you play the game for. lol
if i might criticise star citizen for a moment, you'd think the grass would despawn under the lift so it didn't clip through. this happens on so many other games and bugs me every time.
meanwhile, in baldur's gate 3 (goty, let's just get that over with):

I appreciate the attempt at a new IP though I would still have preferred Fallout V. I already know that universe and the basics of it. No patience to learn new in universe blah.
Also, I am still salty about the 10 minutes I played of Cyberpunk. Totally bait and switch on picking 'lifestyles.'

isn't cyberpunk supposed to be highly patched now like no man's sky?
