That's true. But what is taking place is that the owners of MTG are knowingly driving down the value of their collectables on the secondary market to juice the sales of booster boxes today. This worries Bank of America who downgraded the stock because it is causing people who used to buy boxes to chase rare cards to not do so anymore since the value of those rare cards will plummet not far long after you get it. Gone are the days where you have a binder full of rare and expensive cards. Anything with value will be used to juice sales. Another example:Newbie wrote:

Exactly and it never was for me. I enjoyed the collecting part. The fact that they held value was a plus. Now they are just toys.Newbie wrote:

WoTC is just trying to cash in on the skins market. Create 10 different skins for the same card!SuperJail Warden wrote:
There is something called the "Reserve List." They are cards that MTG promised never to reprint. Most are from the "Alpha" and "Beta" first editions. Most of those are still worth a lot of money and the huge sums you hear about people paying are for those cards alone. Check the link below and guess which cards have been promised to never be reprinted and which ones haven't.

People still collect or still used to collect cards that are not on the "reserve list." But since the owners of MTG decided to start reprinting valuable cards like crazy in order to sell boxes, people stop taking an interest in buying cards since anything you own will get reprinted and with a fancy new art that will make your OG version worthless. Example:
This card was worth a little more than $99 a year and a half ago.
https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/eternal … iric-tutor
It was reprinted 3 times within the last year and a half though. Same card from the three recent print runs:
https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/command … iric-tutor
https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/dominar … etro-frame
https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/dominar … iric-tutor
To make it all worse...two of the times it was reprinted, they also printed special art versions which further lowered the value of the originals. Special art of the same card from the same reprinting.
https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/dominar … borderless
https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/command … tended-art
....
So who do you think someone who bought the card for $99 feels? That's true. This website shows you a card's price history.
This card topped off at $45 in August '22.
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/price/New+P … ator#paper
It was rarely ever reprinted. It had a recent printing a month ago and the value of the card plummeted to $18. Look at the version and variant page too.
https://www.cardkingdom.com/catalog/view?filter[search]=mtg_advanced&filter[name]=Phyrexian%20Obliterator
4 out of 7 variants of this card came from the set from last month. It was a rare card. But since they reprinted it into the ground, the SpEcIaL eDitIoN version is only $9.99
https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/phyrexi … less-ichor
And nobody wants the special edition variant either since they will reprint it someday too. Why spend $9.99 when you can get it for $5 when they reprint it soon?Exactly and it never was for me. I enjoyed the collecting part. The fact that they held value was a plus. Now they are just toys.Newbie wrote:

I feel like you've mentioned slowness with Steam before. I've never had issues with it. It doesn't seem any faster or slower than any gateway app? I've used on my PC, on the Steam app on my samsung, and used to use (and still have) a physical Steam Link box. The only issue I had was connecting to steam via the Steam Link, but once I was connected, it was never slow.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

That's an interesting way to put it. But it is worse than that. Every other month a new set is released. There are three variants of the packs you can buy: Draft Booster (the one you grew up with), Collector's Booster (For Collector's. Released 2020) and Set Boosters (Cheaper Collector Version. Released 2021)KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

I'm sorry, let me rephrase that. Steam has a slow, clunky interface when it acts up. Amazon has an even slower, clunkier interface when it acts up. Some aspects of both platforms run fine.I've never had issues with it. It doesn't seem any faster or slower than any gateway app?
