Kroger lets you bag outside the scale if a cashier overrides it
Defeats the purpose imo. Can I just please have room to set down more than three bags? A gallon of orange juice and a bag of corn chips and you've already used most of the allotted space.
*adjusts sack that's falling off the edge*
"Unexpected item in bagging area. Please remove item from bagging area."
The people working these multiple machines look harried beyond all reason, darting from one complaining machine to the next, making sure an old fart is old enough to buy beer or helping someone out with a coupon, or overriding the item area scale. At least the people at the hardware store get time to breathe.

Where do you stash your groceries until quitting time?
Make an early morning run. No lines, and you get to ring a bell for checkout. *piiing!*

The riot police were deployed preemptively only after the experience of the previous games. Esp. after the first game, when they were caught offguard by the sudden violent outburst. This ended up repeating itself after every following game. It was even stated in the media that police would be deployed and still the groups in question took to the streets to pick a fight. Not the other way around.uziq wrote:
yes, riot police were deployed pre-emptively before the match even kicked off. lol. this is not hard to verify. the presence of riot police doesn’t constitute a riot. why does this have to be explained to you?
so they lit some trash on fire in the streets? burned a few cars? please explain to me how this hasn’t happened dozens of times per year in the context of other sporting events and fandoms? you can’t have been paying attention very closely.
lmao. ‘exceptionally bad sport to celebrate in this way’. so the current list of charges is that their form of celebrating is most unbecoming and that their happiness over a rare footballing success is ‘dangerously nationalistic’.
you really are reaching my friend.
no, paris did not burn. most people saw the football tournament as a cause for a healthy dose of pride and a feel-good celebration. vast swathes of the diaspora and migrant communities could deal with and process such an event as dual-citizens, without the fabric of european society being torn apart.
did problem youths in molenbeek throw some stones at police and break some windows? undoubtedly. are there historical issues between migrant communities and the police? well duh. but this narrative framing - ‘riots across europe, one particular group behaving this way, deep discord and ominous social rumblings’ - is just alarmist nonsense of the highest order. do better, you show your provincial petit-bourgeois grievances a little too transparently at times.
Please do note that in the case of France, after the world cup loss, you're calling this 'not a riot' (first video shown). Just a few cars were burned, happens all the time:
'Happiness over rare football succes' - do you take to the streets to do the above after England wins a match? It wasn't in Marrakesh in which rioters were aiming fireworks at police and burning cars. No, it was in Brussels, in Paris, in The Hague. Each time while brandishing moroccan flags too - it's a subset of assholes in the moroccan community that figured winning or losing a game was ample reason to trash 'the others'. To release evidently pent up anger against and in their surroundings, in my view neither justified nor excusable. In yours apparently so.
People and newspapers have every right to zoom in on this. And if it was lost to you - so did moroccans themselves. In all three countries there were prominent figures in the community taking to social media to make statements against the riots. That these people were ruining an otherwise great moment and putting a bad spotlight on their ethnic communities. And I agree with them.
In my understanding you consider ethnicity so politicised that any negative mention of a group of people through that lens is 'racist, provincial, wrong' - it meets whatever deflection you can muster. Your inability and unwillingness to engage with this is absolutely symptomatic of modern day champagne socialists.

They grease the light poles there during big sporting events to discourage people from climbing them.
Philly sports fans are known for throwing batteries on to the field, throwing snowballs at Santa Claus, and booing their own teams, among other things. The east coast is full of cities that once held huge significant economic/political/cultural relevance in America but are now decaying urban cess pools.

like i said, larssen, you’re clearly not paying very much attention if you think this is conspicuously poor behaviour or problematic from the morocco fans.
again, i’m not denying that there are specific elements that are using the football as an excuse to break shit and vent frustration. but they’re a fraction of a fraction and it hardly takes deep analysis to wonder why a bunch of ghettoised migrants in belgium or wherever want to throw stones at a platoon of riot police deployed in their neighbourhood.
there was ca. 25,000 people on the champs elysées alone that night. they detained ~150 people city-wide. but you’re telling me there’s a yuuuuge brewing problem in the moroccan community? this is the biggest immigrant group in france ffs. stop reaching.
i’ve seen more damage and more violence and affray in bristol city during a derby weekend between bristol city and bristol rovers football fans. mounted police on horseback being knocked over. shops and pubs destroyed. people seriously wounded. etc. this is people destroying their own city. please stop acting like native whites are this virtuous and civilised group. it’s really embarrassing man.
if it’s ‘champagne socialist’ of me to prefer not to challenge an entire ethnic group on their ‘loyalty’ because a few teenagers got excited at a semi-final, then pass me the fucking magnum of bollinger, baby. you sound like an insipid tabloid-tier cultural commentator.

we need an enquiry. the boston bruins fans seem like dangerous separatists. their allegiances are very concerning. the stability of the entire states may be at risk.
shall we just sit by and watch this strangely dressed tribe with their alien accents and exotic behaviour undermine the very peace and stability of the nation? woke libs in new york and DC are sleepwalking into an apocalypse. the capital will burn!

White people peacefully demonstrating to keep the status quo - bad
Brown people rioting, burning neighbourhoods (but not his neighbourhood) to the ground to force radical change - good

where have i said any of those things? lol. try harder.
that’s the thing with you two: you take extreme limit examples, statistical anomalies as you put it, and try to daub an entire community. less than 1% of all BLM protests involved crime, as per a harvard study. but listen to you talk, lmao.
but i’m the one divorced from reality and who lets my ideological precepts and prejudices cloud things.

re: don’t tell me you’re woke if you do coke.
you clearly haven’t been paying attention if you think i’m part of the ‘woke’ crowd who perform liberal pieties and act progressive to score points. that’s not me or my social group at all. i was never part of the whole corbyn mania and i certainly don’t spend my time handwringing about woke causes.
again, try harder.
scientists have found a way to make synthetic coke as of this month btw. soon you won’t even have this aimless shot across the bows to use in every single discussion.

How long was coke an integral part of the Uzique persona?

i haven’t taken coke in 3 years and didn’t take it once during my university days. but go offffff i guess. dilbert knows best.Dilbert_X wrote:

my entire drug era on this forum involved cathinones and MDMA. i didn’t buy cocaine in london once. it was a mid-20s thing.
regardless, the gist of that article is hilarious. yea, the real problem are morally hypocritical ‘woke warriors’. and not, erm, the respectable law-making elites and drum-beating conservative politicians who all take it … whilst making punitive laws for the little people doing the same. the bigger problem here is some hypothetical liberal-woke group who are sooo hypocritical.
you need to grow up my friend. i recommend it!
Wow 3 years thats amazing.

dilbert i didn’t even know a cocaine dealer in my undergraduate years. lol. my group’s overlap with the ‘violent criminal underworld’ was nil. we were a bunch of boarding school types in leafy surrey.
again, do enjoy telling me what really did and didn’t happen in my life. it’s a favourite hobby of yours. very amusing.
i’ll freely admit to taking cocaine a lot in bristol and in my working life. but as an unemployed student? yeah, no, i wasn’t buying a drug at £100 a gram.
DKB!

unlike you we aren’t all fixed in the past and stuck identifying with phases of our life that we’ve left behind. i guess this is hard to understand when you still think of yourself as an engineering undergrad sticking it to the art school kids up the road in kensington.Wow 3 years thats amazing.

The point is you did use cocaine for a fair while, and there would have been consequences for your fun.
Fuck Israel
erm your question was how central was cocaine to my ‘drugs uzique’ persona. to which the answer was: not at all. when i was having my public drug meltdowns on here and doing my wild partying, that drug wasn’t in the equation at all. you told me it was. god knows why you insist on things you weren’t present at. a very autistic habit of yours.
and except not necessarily, no. not every single cocaine user is directly implicated in violence. that’s a silly view.
do you consume chocolate? let me tell you a thing or two about child slavery and abusive labour practices in west africa, my friend. i guess every single chocolate bar you’ve ever had in your life has the blood and tears of children involved, right?
how about coffee? uh oh … i’ve got some bad news. are you sitting down? why are you so happy for people in faraway lands to suffer for your daily dopamine hit? you’re a pathetic selfish addict. etc.
i’ve already made the point before that european cocaine supply doesn’t go through the hyper violent cartels. are street-level gangs and county lines runners a social problem in the UK? yes. but the groups selling in bristol are not violent and don’t have a ‘street’ presence. they’re well-organised and international. details, details.
it’s so funny how you tell me how my own life has gone. get one of your own fella.
and how is any of this relevant to your completely inane broadsides about BLM or rioting footballing fans? you’re very shy of actual details, aren’t you? ‘all BLM protestors are going to burn down my neighbourhood’. ‘all cocaine involves beheaded men in sinaloa’.

Er, are people swallowing condoms filled with Nescafe or having packages stitched inside them on pain of having their family murdered to supply my morning coffee?
Pretty sure its fairtrade and fully ethical.

That counterpoint is a bit of a double-edged sword, considering the arguably evil state of Nestlé.
