RvW: "The Government doesn't have a right to intervene on women's rights to have an abortion"

Conservatives then: "WE WROTE THIS"

Conservatives now: "FUCK THAT, I want state governments to decide my choices for me"

Imagine the confusion of some blue state conservatives who are simultaneously pro- states rights (the civil war was about that!) but anti- their state (not that way! trump, help us!).

Seen some pretty hot takes posted in people's front yards.

The weirdest conservatives are the ones who live in NY state and California but hate the major cities of their state. That is Jay. Taking the train everyday into the city of LGBT, CRT, and hipsters.

It's to be expected, really. Conservative, rural/suburban dwellers of blue states are often targets of local political programming, to the effect of "your ills are the fault of the liberal, socialist, communist, cities. It is known," even as some of them make money off of or somehow benefit from said urban centers.

It's easy to tell people anything less than perfection is the fault of someone else and they're free to sit on their ass and take 0 responsibility as long as they vote R.
Actually taking some action to make your life better instead of sitting on the couch and blaming brown people thousands of miles away? Lord no. But definitely don't look up the verses in the bible where God gives step-by-step on how to perform abortions or that life begins at 'first breath'

it is unheard of. some clerk is going to get fired/thrown in jail.
A lot of melodrama. The right wingers upset about the leak would be doing the exact opposite if there was a leak confirming the SCOTUS planned to uphold RvW. As would I probably.

At this point why should the SCOTUS be immune from the same political forces everyone else needs to suffer under? It is not enough that they have lifetime appointments and are the final authority on law in this country. They must also be allowed to work in total secrecy?
scotus doesnt work in total secrecy. their opinions get published, this is a working draft duh. leaks do not happen at the judicial level, since ya know, lawyers/judges should keep shit confidential. this destroys any trust in the system.

a draft legal judgment being leaked has profound consequences. if you knew how a judge would rule, you can make a lot of money from the inside information as well, courts usually deal with commercial matters all the time.

fyi theres a theory the leak was done by a conservative justice to strengthen the decision, the leak to politico was to a former fox nat security reporter... not a court reporter at any of the other major papers.

states rights is only a thing when convenient for conservatives.

yep the yale law school prof (who was also a SC clerk) speculated the same in my linked twitter link above.

a leak of this kind doesn't benefit the liberals/pro-abortion side in any way. it only cements the majority justices' in their draft opinions, lest they should be seen to vacillate and undermine the court's internal process.

Sorry but I'm not using a platform owned by a nerd who doesn't know he's not cool

I'm glad there's a rapist on the supreme court, rapists never get fair representation and I bet most rapists vote republican.

yes, that's right dilbert, people's criticisms of elon musk's twitter takeover were exclusively around the fact that he's 'not cool'. way to get the point.

twitter itself isn't 'cool'. my point was that the world seems to be suffering under the grandiose narcissistic delusions of a man-baby going through a midlife crisis. most people just buy a high-cc motorbike they're too afraid to ride or at least get an expensive leather jacket. we have to put up with elon musk doing his 'iron man cameo' routine yet again. it's tedious. if nerds like you were built-up properly as young men then the world wouldn't have to suffer under your pimply adolescent reactive behaviour.

Moving or traveling to another state to find abortion provider is a tax on the poor.

Maybe pregnant women can find god while hiking up the long abandoned railways with bindles over their shoulders. Experience Christian realizations in their suffering and change their minds about terminating their rape cell or ectopic pregnancy tumors.

The Onion barely qualifies as satire anymore. I know this is a dead horse to beat at this point, but opening their website is like scrying the chicken bones and entrails for what's coming next.

The poor should be taxed to encourage them to get rich and pay less tax.
Or is it fewer tax.

RBG stayed on the court, and doomed Roe v. Wade so that she had a platform to tell black people to shut up because of Africa.
"It's contempt for a government that has made it possible for their parents and their grandparents to live a decent life," Ginsburg said, according to Couric's recording from the 2016 sitdown. "Which they probably could not have lived, in the places they came from … As they become older they realize that this was a youthful folly. And that's why education is important."

Republicans would have delayed every Obama+ appointment possible until the next Republican president. Because, you know, you sometimes have to live with decisions you don't agree with.

Yeah I wish she had retired early too. The way things went in this country caught people off guard, her included. We are on a weird timeline where too many Simpsons predictions have come / are coming true. MAGA should have been canceled after its first season.

I think RBG and Hilary both should have stepped back from politics instead of feeling the need to be the center of attention while pushing into their 70s, and 80's. It is a cruel irony that women's rights took a huge beating because of two elderly white women refusing to fade away.

RBG also died from COVID because it was totally very import to officiate a wedding without a facemask during a pandemic. Again, it really says something about her as a person I think.

What is this post? COVID? She had pancreatic cancer. A Jewish woman photographed with a man in a yarmulke, shocking.

As a point of criticism, she was pushing to beat records for time on the bench on top of surviving multiple cancers at an advanced age. I don't want to call it selfish, because she may have been holding out for whoever Hillary would appoint. If that was the case, the gamble didn't pay off. But also, quick reading, 2014: https://www.newyorker.com/news/amy-davi … nt-dissent

I hesitate to lay where we are now solely on Ginsburg. Every door of the clown car is open and Republican wingnuts have been streaming out and towards office for awhile now, with MAGA at the tips of their tongues. Vote when the time(s) come(s), I guess.
