this isn't a tarantino flick, son.
Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Mac's cuck anthology is still due on uziques desk.

Hmm. Hmmmmmmmm
Why is this in the racism thread? Well I want to talk about the casting of Spike.
Spike should have been white. This guy lacks the charisma and confidence of animated Spike. I wouldn't say 'Asian men can't be charming lead characters' but we still haven't had our breakout star to take that seriously.
Asian men shouldn't be typecast as kung fu ninjas but the below movie actually seems kind of cool. The Asian men leads seem to fit their role really well.

This Spike though...ugh

I don't think there's a human alive who could match that chin without copious amounts of facial prosthetics. Casting race for anime is a bit of a Choose Your Own Adventure, isn't it? Things can sometimes be a little ambiguous.
I've never watched Cowboy Bebop, that I know of. Maybe I saw a clip or two. I remember people were really upset about the live action Dragon Ball, but I haven't seen that either.

i think the line that 'asian men can't be charming lead characters' is more than a bit ignorant. there have been some legendary asian male actors, just not in hollywood flicks. some of my favourite performances have starred asian actors.
all the major asian ethnicities have their own male stars and leads. china, india, japan, korea, etc have superstars. it's just you're not watching those movies.
there have been some korean-american crossovers, for instance. like this guy, who is an oscar-nominated actor.
didn't you like that dumb show?
this japanese actor stars frequently as the male lead in one of japan's best contemporary director's movies, hirokazu kore-eda. he also has the face shape.
also, let's not forget the sheer aesthetic violence that western movies have already done to anime franchises.
i think that's one of the lowest-rated movies of all time.

So I remember people being mad because they thought Goku should be Asian. Except he's an alien. Spot on being upset with the big green alien. Where's the antennae? The bombastic outfit with a shoulder pad wingspan?
er i think the bigger crime was that they set the movie in an american high-school. which doesn't exactly seem like an adaptation that's faithful to the japanese original.
Did Goku ever even go to school in the anime?
e: Admittedly, being too faithful to the original might be problematic nowadays. Handsy old men wouldn't go over well.

My thoughts regarding Asian leading men was bad. I am sorry. There are a lot of good actors telling interesting stories. I did say the GI Joe thing looks well cast. I would watch that.
I think that was a reflexive reaction to the "Why isn't Spike Asian" complaints that we know would exist if they cast the show with with Ryan Reynolds or another white guy who has the charm and look to carry the character.
They race bent every other character but the lead. Incomprehensible decision.
Maybe the white haired villain with a sword could have remained Asian?

i don't know enough about the original anime to really comment.
re: hollywood audiences and western expectations, the recent boom in korean cinema (parasite, train to busan, minari, etc) has shown that there's definitely an appetite for it. to say nothing of the literally global and world-beating success of squid game and other k-dramas. this stuff is big and there is no excuse anymore for western audiences to demand brad pitt, tom cruise, leo dicaprio or george clooney in every leading actor role.
cinéastes and people in the know in the west have no trouble admitting the all-time greatness of directors like kurosawa and his samurai epics. why can't anime adaptations keep their asian casts, in a similar vein? they're not exactly leagues away from such original movies.
stuff of this merit and quality certainly doesn't need laundering with a white cast in a questionable 'remake'.

Seven Samurai would be hard to improve on.
Fuck Israel
The Magnificent Seven was a worthy film.
the thing i don't understand about these weird anime whitewashes is the studio's thinking. like, of all potential audiences and considering the market reach of an anime adaptation: who the fuck do they think will be queuing up to watch this thing? it'll be a bunch of weebs and japan-philes. replacing the cast of an anime with a bunch of white actors isn't suddenly going to get kevin finnerty from pittsburgh in to see a gay anime movie.
"An attempt was made" capitalizing on nerd nostalgia, but their finger isn't on the pulse. Explanation probably applies to other kinds of bad remakes as well. Personally I would prefer a bad remake (that I could easily ignore) over a horrible dub I might watch on accident. Unless the dub was funny.
I imagine the live action Dragon Ball got more showings than the actual animated Dragon Ball movies that are still being made, lol. Was it in theaters?

hmm
The face he made in photos seemed to have no more an apt descriptor than Macbeth's "pig man". I finally brought myself to watch the footage of his fake crying and it really seems more like he's trying to stifle a sneeze. It's unfortunate he's going to walk with his "legal, but immoral" actions and then remain a cause celebre amongst the right wingers. Probably gonna write a shitty book and go on speaking tours.

That's like the third time you posted this exact pic, mac, with a critique of her appearance. I'm starting to think you have a bit of an attraction going on.
I was a pro-gun conservative at 17 too. But I didn't go around looking for protests and picking fights or "defending businesses" or whatever in the aim to try and position myself into being the next Roof Korean type get a human life under my belt like the Predator. He has a certain responsibility. My interest in his parents or the politics of his upbringing is quite limited.

It still bothers me that the people who were shot weren't allowed to be referred to as victims (mIgHt BiAs ThE JurY!), though it was low-key encouraged that they be called rioters or looters (which wouldn't make the jury biased? lol). I haven't kept super close track of proceedings, but this alone makes it seem like a bit of a joke.
Article by CNN seems to do a more fair job of representing the people who were shot (don't call them victims!) as human beings than that kangaroo court. https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/01/us/kyle- … index.html
Did any of the other virtually deputized people out there shoot protesters? Why on earth was a 17 year old allowed to run with that crowd?

The whole thing is retarded, retarded 17 year-olds shouldn't be walking around with AR15s, people shouldn't be running around with 'Medic' hats and waving handguns.
Fuck Israel
The paramedic hat guy makes the least amount of sense. He had his hands up, but a gun was in one of them. Not the most deescalating thing in the world (yeah yeah I get that shouldn't be the victim's job to deescalate, but it still seems like a bad idea to have it out if you aren't going to use it). Talk about putting the world's biggest target on yourself when you're approaching an active shooter. If he had had police training instead of paramedic training, maybe Rittenhouse would have been shot instead.
Having a gun in the first place shouldn't really bely that from the standpoint of the pro-gun crowd, who think teachers should have guns. But they still use Grosskreutz's gun as an excuse for Rittenhouse. But the whole sequence of events being misrepresented, including by defense, as three older thugs waylaying KR.He said his goal during the protest was to provide medical care to anyone who needed it.
That's what annoys me about their whole "good guy with a gun" fantasy is that it doesn't even prevent shootings, but theoretically can cut them shorter. Maaaaaaaaaaaayyyyybe there's a disincentive to start shit if everyone in the world was open-carrying, but that's not the sort of knife-edge world I wanna live in, not to mention that people still get drunk/get angry in the course of everyday life.
But if someone shoots you you can shoot down their bullet in flight with your bullet.
Fuck Israel
25% of the population is special ed.
A lot of people have 5th grader mentalities. "I can do what I want and nobody can tell me nothing". Sometimes that results in people going a state over with a rifle to take part in a race riot.

For much of his life, Mr. Rittenhouse had tried on identities infused with bravery and service, while exaggerating his accomplishments and eventually dropping out of high school.
...
His parents were divorced, and he lived with his mother, Wendy, in an apartment in Antioch, a small town in a rural area along the Wisconsin border.
It all starts at home. The mother must be punished for her sins. Gluttony, sloth, and lust for starters. Where is the father? Why is it always single parent households with these people?unnamednewbie13 wrote:

In my day only actual retards were special ed, everyone else got whipped into shape.
Most of the whats happening now is parenting, fat stupid mothers with shit diets during pregnancy, lazy parenting and no father produce idiot kids.
The issues I'm having in my shooting club are a carbon copy of a historic issue which destroyed another club.
Both driven by stupid women who are each divorced and stuck with ADHD/Autistic kids. I don't think it a coincidence.
