i just want to let you guys know that korea is really fucking hot.

it’s been about 35 deg celsius with maximal humidity for 6 weeks now. effective heat index of nigh-on 40 degrees.

i can handle heat but the shower-like humidity is insane. as soon as you exit the nearby cone of an AC you’re sweating. my eyelids sweat. the back of my knees sweat. spots of my body that haven’t sweated since my last day in court are perspiring freely and awesomely.

did i mention the screaming cicadas and mosquitoes?

thankfully the locals look great. 10/10 would move again. turns out you’re all cucks.

Accuweather shows an excessive heat warning until the 14th, in addition to air quality alerts mostly involving smoke and particulates among the usual pollens and molds.

It's nearly midnight and still hot outside. It needs to rain, soon.

I'm well south of that spot in BC that got to like 52C. Might have to migrate in the coming decades.

thankfully korean air (which can be truly, life-ruiningly terrible) is pretty good in the summer.

in spring a shitload of yellow dust comes over from the gobi desert and mordor (aka china). some days i don't think it's even safe to open your windows.

weather-wise, spring here was like a really really good english summer. mid-20s, low humidity, beautiful crisp days. that plus cherry blossom. i miss it. summer is stultifying.

can't even imagine what it's like in vietnam or thailand or something. fuck that. i'd need to evolve gills.

Its rarely humid here, Bristol is far worse.

My parents lived in the ME
- Get up
- Have a shower
- Walk out of door -> Need another shower
I lived there too but I don't remember much.

I didn't really like detroit or florida - constantly moving from boiling hot and dripping humid to icy cold hurricane blast is bad for you.
Its best to just take the pain and acclimatise. I probably wouldn't bother with heating or cooling here if it were left to me.

According to a cooking chart I just googled, at 49C is when "heat-sensitive fibers begin to denature." A few degrees higher than Canada got, and that's when collagen begins to denature. "The meat turns from a light pink to brownish grey in color and begins shrinking from the loss of juices. Meat cooked to this temperature is consider “medium rare”."

Granted, I wouldn't want to live anywhere on the other end of the spectrum where there's folk remedies for frostbite.

Yeah, the places near the water in my town was a lake yesterday. People lost cars, homes were flooded, etc. Real shit show.

Snowing on Christmas for the first time in what feels like forever. Usually seems like overcast or rain on this day.

FWP: being shamed for marveling at snow in an area where it doesn't often happen, "the homeless people are suffering in it." Why yes they are, but I can't get my weather control device approved by the FCC. Take it up with the feds, who could be doing more to help anyway.

Having worked in both in the past, I'd rather be out in light snowflakes than freezing rain.
