To be honest I forgot there was a Battlefield section. It didn't even pop up in my unread for some reason.

Got another hardware survey from Steam. The results are interesting, and kind of funny.
29.33% respondents: VR headset, yet:
8.65% respondents: GTX 1060 as the most common result. 30x0 accounts for less than 1% for any model.
Video card situation is nuts.
Also, 65% respondents: less than 500GB free drive space (I don't know if this is surveyed across the windows drive or across all drives though)

BF2042 said no more campaign and a return of bots on mp maps like the old days and on some game modes to fill in for a lack of real players.
Halo Infinite also announced bots for forge and custom games.
Dice already had it started with doing player filling in BF4 I think it was, and then SWBF2new. Weird to see it for halo but being in forge brings a ton of possibilities.
Also AoE4 got a little bit of new info. 93gb for a game that can run on a toaster, min requirements are integrated gfx from 5 years ago, i5, 8gb ram. 6 of 8 civs have been revealed.

I wonder how much of that is uncompressed audio.
Anyway, less interested in 2042 without a campaign. I hope the people who buy it enjoy the thing.

I was going to make fun of you for liking those campaigns but thinking it over there is something somewhat special about (some) Call of Duty and Battlefield campaigns. Only in those games can you experience what it is like to still be in the Desert Storm and War on Terror war mindset. American soldiers taking part in urban warfare? Doesn't happen anymore. It's all drone strikes these days.
I'm curious what battlefield plays like now. Might get EA pass and try 4/1/5 out. SWBF2new only had a couple decent weapons, the rest felt like a modern shooter. Hopefully bf feels better
Is Mac a game dev now?

Dev makes a game about cuckholds to put a political statement on the cuckholdmobile. "Biden/Harris."
lol
I'm vs.'d out, bruh.
If I wanted "wartime experience" I could just fly to arizona and play xbox in an adobe shed.
lol
That's fine. It's mostly that I just never got the heart to get back into BF multiplayer after BF2. Campaigns were a way for me to play the game for maybe 15 hours without having to rank up from scratch and deal with PVP. That energy I spent in WoT some years after its launch, but don't even really play that anymore.SuperJail Warden wrote:

Does anyone remember this game. I loved it.
I think I missed that one. Skipped over a lot of PS2 stuff, only grabbing it and some games when the console was like $60.
That's a shame. The game is amazing.
I had a pretty big aversion to playing FPS on gamepad anyway. I already knew keyboard and mouse, and gamepads just made things feel sluggish to me.
It's still a flex in some circles to beat people with gamepads, or especially trackballs or trackpads.

decent game but way overshadowed by goldeneye for N64.
i also enjoyed conker’s bad fur day for early console split screen. even the south park game was decent. pretty sure it’s the same engine and essentially a reskin of timesplitters.
it was a very good game for its era. i graduated to PC gaming at like age 13 though.

A part of me wishes I had stayed with consoles until I grew bored with them. PC gaming is great fun but was also sometimes really frustrating and time consuming when I didn't have much to spare.
Console gaming has its own issues. Only until recently you would need to take a trip to the local Gamestop to play the newest game. And no console has as long of online support as Steam has had. They almost shut down the PS Store for the PS3 and PSP until people rebelled.
I think I would have probably quit around the time of the PS2.
pretty much the same here. i remember wanting a playstation and being gutted when i got an N64 for xmas (in retrospect i way preferred the N64, just so many good childhood memories with that thing and its game library).
had a sega saturn, dreamcast, gamecube, playstation 2 ...
xbox came out in 2000 or 2001 iirc. same year i got a desktop PC in my room. whooosh! i skipped all the xboxes.

I still have a PS3. I can play PS1 to PS3 games on it. It's truly amazing how one box does so much.
Some very solid stuff on DC, GC, PS2, though I'm admittedly not familiar with what was out on the Saturn. I do have newer consoles, though I just don't play them too often.
Replaced my PS3 long ago (I need to repair or send my original PS3 for drive repairs). IIRC they stripped a lot of backwards compatibility from newer versions? Maybe it was just being able to install Linux and some of the folding stuff. I think Wii could play the Gamecube stuff, I seem to remember loading some old second-hand titles up in it.
My newest are PS4 and Switch, but I really just end up spending more time on Steam, or closing it in disgust of contemplated playtime and reading a book instead. Whatever.
Dark Souls has nothing on Mario Maker 2, sheesh.

Anyone playing PGA 2K21 during the Steam freekend? It's surprisingly addictive, I've found. I'm horribly inconsistent, but it does feel rewarding when you hole a long boi.
I think the last golf game I played was GTA 5.
