Turned mine off years ago, too. However, I did something I saw on reddit involving downloading the data Google has on you and was somewhat disappointed at how empty it was. Maybe it's because I don't grant many permissions or use certain apps, but I was hoping for something a lot more sinister.

I mainly use duckduckgo, and a lot of my online information is fake and inconsistent.

I haven't opted out because I was curious to see what it would pick up. It's wrong about my age. Has me pegged for news, cats and flowers (I search gardening stuff a lot), which doesn't really narrow things down much. I don't know where it got urban transit from.

Honestly if I have to see ads, I'd rather they be for stuff that interests me. But ublock sort of makes that sort of personalization pointless. I'm not turning it off even if a site begs. I've tried to be generous about it, but have caught malware embedded into ads (even on youtube) and I don't really trust the agencies to be on the level.
