Okay? I have extensively listened to both these bands, which is why I find this amusing out of all the groups to pick. These examples are probably the most mainstream successful songs of the bands, so is that surprising? I feel like most people I know couldn't name a single Rancid song, though.Jay wrote:
Rancid sucks, but if you were to ask someone to name a Rancid song it would either be Roots Radical or Ruby Soho. If you were to ask a casual "fan" of The Clash what their favorite song was it would be Should I Stay or Should I Go or Rock the Casbah, both of which are among their shittiest songs.DesertFox- wrote:

Ska sucks and you picked a Rancid song that might as well be Rock the Casbah. Happy?
EDIT: Like Mac, I do quite enjoy it. I do find ska is quite a feel-good genre. I like how lively it is and it always puts me in a good mood.

Because Rancid sucks.DesertFox- wrote:

I'm not really giving you shit. Everyone has their own taste in music. I do hate Rancid though.

It sure seems that way.
They probably threw it away. Such a cuck.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Their opening was the Sunday after the NZ mosque shooting. They are much more considerate and respectful than the Christian church around the corner
What type of Christian church?
I don't know which one. There are a few around. I just know they always illegally park and leave trash when they have large funerals. Meanwhile the director at the Muslim school comes brings us stuff and asks permission to use our parking lot during the weekends when they need it.
That's disappointing. The Muslims in my town use the closed movie theater to pray. They sued the city and won a settlement to build a mosque. Meanwhile a Catholic church was demolished to build condos.
What does he bring you? I adore Arabic food.

that aphex twin album is basically considered ground zero of an entire genre, and one of the most influential albums of recent times.

If you say so. I don't know why you and Jay have both interpreted that I'm putting forth these bands as the best or my favorites. I'm just following Mac's rules with the dubious Top Listens my phone gave me.
you just started saying everyone’s choices were bland. you have the taste of a person who hasn’t developed since warp tour 2003. get wrekt kid
adults should not wear DCs and have dreadlocks. they should not know the name of more than 3 skateboard flips/grinds/grabs. you need to put in some work. i recommend jesus.

That wasn't what I was saying, but okay, let's go with this topic. I did find a lot of the linked things that I listened to unremarkable, hence why I surmised that is how the reversed situation occurs. I've listened to a lot of the Aphex Twin stuff you've been pitching over the last decade and kept waiting for something interesting to happen. Perhaps it's just me not putting enough effort into listening to these songs, as sometimes I do find myself needing to relisten to a new song if it's in the background while I'm concentrating.
Fun fact: that's probably the first time I've seen a picture of the band.

haha, waiting for something interesting to happen. no, 5 man-babies playing inverted chords in the same ska rhythm for 7 albums is really interesting. musicologically and sociologically, your music is pretty much babyfood.
People's taste in music generally gets locked in during their teenage years into their mid twenties. It's why classic rock stations that have played the same 100 songs for the last 30 years exist. It also makes arguments about what is good or not completely pointless, as taste is subjective and everyone has their own.DesertFox- wrote:

I don't think there's a way to really get to my "top 5" so instead I'll provide a few 'best of' from my spotify favourites in a number of different genres. I got tons but i'll leave it at this, there's gonna be something for everyone in here:
Blues - Freddie King - Same Old Blues
Blues rock - Philip Sayce - Burning Out
Blues/Country - RL Burnside - Someday Baby
Rock - Bellevue Days - Faith
hiphop - Mobb Deep - Shook Ones pt. II
Hiphop - Lupe Fiasco - Daydreamin'
Ultimate 80s pop - Michael McDonald - I Keep Forgettin'
Techno - Opa - Kölsch
House - Chocolate Puma x Pep & Rash - The Stars Are Mine
Metal - In Flames - Deliver Us
Death Metal - Insomnium - Where The Last Wave Broke
Classical (Romantic) - Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto no.2 op.18
Also I concur that uzique's taste in music is utter trash, goddamn.

Uzi clearly had a subscription to Spin magazine somewhere between 10 and 15 years ago. They appealed to his pretentious nature and told him about all the influential bands that no one has ever heard of that he should care about, so he did.Larssen wrote:

as a german who spent time in belgium and the netherlands I don't think you're gonna 'one up' me on house/techno/edm sry m8
hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha
yeah i forgot about schranz and gabber, the national genres of germany and NL.
soon you'll be telling me about that time you queued up for berghain but didn't want to go, anyway. and the scary men at tresor!
wtf does belgium have by the way? i'm not even sure what you're meant to get from that 'dance' culture even via osmosis. do you mean amsterdam? the hague? bro do you even de school?
house and techno come from chicago and detroit, by the way. god knows what the fuck a belgian has to do with it.
EDM you can keep. you can be the resident master of EDM.
