I had two shots of absolute vodka mixed with seltzer water. I already regret it. I want to smoke marijuana now which I purposely haven't done in over a week.
it's amazing to me how people are still drinking during a lockdown. on instagram i see my friends taking beers with them on their daily walk. people still buying large amounts of alcohol to consume at home, just for something to do, i guess.
it's ironic to me because, outside of the odd bourbon on a sunny day, i will never drink at home. fuck drinking several beers just sat around, out of boredom. and people drinking on their one-a-day quarantine walk just says all sorts of 'hell no' things about alcohol dependency, to me.

I have had that drink before. I actually have a bottle of '43 with me.gurdeep wrote:

Best mixed drink in the world
I just use cold brew instead of espresso. Not quite the same, but it gets the job done
How do you make your cold brew? I use a French Press.gurdeep wrote:

You could make a lot more cold brew with that that thing than that little jar. The French Press is also super simple to use.
Idk mate, mine is super easy and lasts me a week at a time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it
I got tired of my glass french presses breaking while I washed them, so I upgraded to a metal one. Got me one of these:SuperJail Warden wrote:

Keeps the coffee hot for much longer as a nice side benefit.

Liquor update:
Polished off a bottle of Jameson Cooper's Croze that I bought off a guy at work who's downsizing his whiskey collection. Good, but not as good as Jameson Blender's Dog.
Also picked up my first $100+ bottle a couple weeks ago. It's a Japanese offering, Kaiyo "The Sheri" Mizunara Oak. According to some Googling, it looks like I got a good deal at MGM, as I paid just over $100 and other outlets are charging $200. It's pretty good. Really smooth with a hint of vanilla in the aftertaste. It's good for a single bottle, considering it's a somewhat limited run of 400 cases, but I probably wouldn't buy it again because I actually prefer the (far) cheaper Suntory Toki in a Japanese whisky.
Not sure what I'll buy next, but my next three-figure bottle (in a few month or a year) will probably be the Tullamore D.E.W. 18-year. I'm a huge fan of Irish whiskys. I do know that drinking mid-shelf whiskeys is destroying my ability to tolerate the lower-shelved items. I poured myself a tumbler of Maker's Mark last night after a glass of the Kaiyo, and it tasted like ass.
Fuck it, I'm deciding now it'll be WhistlePig.

Drinks I Invented #2
The Ginga Turtle:
1 part Malibu
1 part Midori
2 parts ginger beer
Created out of a blend of necessity (insufficient ingredients for much of anything else) and boredom, this is actually pretty good. The name was suggested by a coworker who used to tend bar due to its similarity to a Ninja Turtle (swap pineapple juice for the ginger beer). I was unaware of the existence of the Ninja Turtle prior to my mixing.
Try it, and let me know what you think!

ginger beer is definitely one of my favourite mixers.
Agreed.
I invented:
Vodka
Triple Sec
Tonic Water
It comes out a bit like champagne but you can tune the alcohol content.
1:1:1 is about right.
OK 2:1:5 is more realistic.

This Licor 43 and coffee is an interesting concoction...
Espresso martinis were a thing for a while, I bet barmen hated them.
Fuck Israel
Bought a bottle of red wine just now. I needed to get groceries and got wine along the way.
for a while? we always order espresso martinis if they’re on the menu. they’re really easy to make compared to some cocktails.Dilbert_X wrote:

You guys ever heard of the concept of cross tolerance? I have given up smoking marijuana and just drink now. I can drink a lot and not get sick and not get too drunk either. I drank a little less than a liter of red wine an hour ago and still feel barely drunk at all. Same thing happens with marijuana. I can vape until my lung hurts but still can't get a level of high I had when I was younger.
