in my experience over here, it's mostly the management and white-collar types who have seamlessly pivoted to WFH set-ups as if nothing has happened. disruption to my publishing business is almost nil.

flu-type viruses do worse in warmer climates generally. god gave them their fair share of tropical diseases, for fairness.

i would be extremely surprised if an anti-malarial agent had any effect on a virus. but i am not a virologist.

From what I have read scientist already know it won't. COVID didn't come from space. We generally know what it is made up of and how different medications interact with its different parts. The news did say a medication they started to develop for Ebola that never got mass produced might work.

it's not unheard of for some drug or medication to have some interesting cross-indication or unintended interaction. but, yes, definitely rare in immunology (as opposed to, say, mental health medication).

From what I've skimmed anti-malarials are to do with treating the cytokine storm, not the virus.

There's a leftover Appalachian kind of accent around old poor people here. They do like to add random R's to words, like wash. Warsh, warshington. Also 'ee' in words becomes 'i'.

south-west of england is still heavily rhotic and 'non-flattened'. vowel sounds are rounded out. it's the oldest surviving form of english from the days of king alfred the great's wessex. the others were influenced by invading forces/kingdom merges.
