I was referring to Victor's remote detonator.
Once my roommate locked me out of my room. It was locked and dead-bolted. Fortunately, the door to frame fit was poor. I clipped a wire coat hanger with my multi-tool, put some 90 degree angles in the wire, then turned the dead-bolt "flipper" from the inside and used the wire to open the regular lock.
I've also opened normal doors by using a knife as a shim, and opened padlocks with a piece of of a coke can.
Making chairs, drying racks, and small shelters from wood and twine while camping is always good too.

My wife locked her keys in her car. I grabbed a pair of tin snips and some metal strapping and cut a slim jim before she could dial AAA

Had a runny nose with not a thing in sight except notebook paper...so i crumpled it until or was soft and used that.
the 3.5mm jack on my speakers was being fucky after years of being abused and pulled on, my soldering iron is no longer heating up and I had a spare 6.35mm -> 3.5mm laying around

I once had the inside doorknob to my condo bathroom break while I was in there for a shower. The door was closed and on account of the fuxed knob I had no way to open it to get out, plus I was alone in the condo so I couldn't ask someone for help. With no tools in the bathroom I took a pair of nail clippers that had a swing-out nail file and used the edge of the nail file as an impromptu screwdriver to attack the screws on the broken knob and remove it so I could open the door and get out.
