This place is slow and boring. Please post whatever thing you are looking forward to happening or what you have been working towards/doing lately.
I recently moved into my very own place, first time I've had a flat to myself.
Looking forward to an interview on Thursday, gonna try switch jobs cause the one I have suuuucks. I'm only a bartender though so it's easy to switch, if I nail the interview.
What about you?

I'm still waiting to hear if I have a permanent job. I've been waiting for the news for 4 weeks. With any luck I'll know by Friday. If not, I need to request a contract extension beyond the 31st. It's been so long in the making that I don't even care at this point. Closure is all I want so that I can make my next move.
One of my best friends got married this past weekend so I got to take an nice, little mini-vacation to travel and visit another friend and take her to the wedding and it was all very lovely. Probably the first time I actually honestly gave a shit about the people getting married.
Going to Melbourne for a week in December
Looking for a new job
Working on setting up a business in my shed (too noisy for my Mom's basement)
Think I've found a licence to print money through the stock market (actually its not new but not enough people are not doing it to make it unviable)

I'm going to Mexico at the beginning of December then Denver for NYE. Trying to figure out if I want to take a trip between now and then. Any suggestions?
Pirana, how's Seattle this time of year??

Are you doing something other than bar tending? My mate from highschool only recently left bar tending (29 now) and he's always had money problems because of it. Make sure you've got something on the side if you can.
Way to be a downer, reaper.
I'm just trying to look out for the young man.
It only really applies to the Australian stock marketFinray wrote:

It wouldn't apply to an economy based on barter of livestock, opiates and sexual favours

Unimpressed by Montreal. It's like a smaller New York with more construction and an outsized ego. Host was a good guy though.

Yeah the money isn't great but it's good honest work, free from bureaucracy and all that shite, folk are usually awesome to work with too.AussieReaper wrote:

I'm planning on going to college next year, being 25 in Scotland you get enhanced financial aid when you're going through education, mature student allowance, probably drop to part time in the bar scene as I learn. IT something. Computer games development, software development, idk exactly yet.
The place I just interviewed for is a bit of a bump in pay, though, which is nice.
Was one of those 20 people in a room group activities typa thing, quick icebreaker, build a tower from K'NEX, give a short presentation, then successful candidates were asked back in for an interview. I got selected, and sat down to my interview to "Hi Fin, do you remember me? I'm a friend of Elaine's", I'd actually been on the piss with this girl before, so immediately all nervousness and pressure was off, I think I nailed it.

And of course if you're working behind a bar you'll get really good people skills you can use no matter what profession you end up in.
As an engineer at pretty well all my interviews I've had to build something out of K'NEX.

I got made redundant. Or should I say, I volunteered for redundancy. Yes it seems even New Zealanders expect too much pay for Australian companies now and they're moving their broadcast operations to the Philippines. Gutting my team and my side of the company. Keeping a skeleton crew there for some unknown reason but what's left at the end of this restructure didn't make me want to stay.
The writing's been on the wall for a while so I've been trying to time it right to walk out of there with a redundancy package and into another job. I finish next week and while another job hasn't materialised I have several back-up plans that I'm going to kick into action over the next few days.
Either way it's going to be an exciting change. I've been at my job nearly six and a half years which is probably longer than I should have been. There are a few things I'll miss but a shite-load of frustrations and headaches I won't.
Also the weekend after I leave I've signed up for a 60km ultramarathon. Great timing. Furthest I've ever run is I think 23-24kms but I've trained strategically so if I follow the plan I should get it done. If not it'll be a good way to thrash myself physically.

I got offered the job... kinda.
"We want to offer you shifts on a casual basis, basically we text you with a list of available shifts, and you text back what you can do. No obligation either way for shifts or for having to do shifts.."

I just got back from an interview (3rd stage), I'm pretty sure I made it to the next stage but there's a few more people they've got to interview...
Really hope I get this because it's a really cool company with a huge pay increase and benefits package

ya but will they send you to the states?
Can you get Finary a job once you get in?
nah that's the one good thing about my current company but I can't work there any more because my manager is an incompetent spineless prick.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

I think they'll offer some kind of pay increase when I hand my notice in but I'll tell them the only way I'll stay is if they transfer me to the NYC office.
Not sure they'll go for it but that's what I'm gonna do!
Back in school to get a second B.A. I only needed 4 classes in order to get a B.A. in political science on top of my B.A. in History. Not motivated, smart enough, or have the money to do a M.A. One day though.
