Electronic Arts has confirmed that the new Battlefield, as we expected based on images that leaked out earlier today, is a World War I-themed shooter called Battlefield 1.
Like its predecessors, Battlefield 1 will be a multiplayer-focused game, with 64-player battles that will take place in different locales around the world. But there will be a campaign as well, which will unfold from the perspectives of multiple characters.
Battlefield 1 is scheduled to come out on October 21, but will be available prior to that—“as early as the 18th”—for those who preorder the “Early Enlister Edition.” It will be on display at EA Play in June, and there will also be pre-release access opportunities for Battlefield Insider and Origin Access members.

I've always wanted a WW1 Battlefield. This one will probably be ridiculous, but I suppose there has to be some creative liberties taken with action elements to relieve the potential boredom of sitting in a muddy virtual trench waiting to die and respawn in another muddy virtual trench. This may be the first Battlefield I've bought in awhile.
Taken. I've heard lots of people making fun of the name. On some level, the name annoys me, but it makes too much sense in immediate context to not use. Title consistency for Battlefield is far less of an issue for me than bugs. I hope it doesn't have too many of those when it comes out.
- Battlefield 1 ?!
- Battlefield 1942
- Battlefield Vietnam
- Battlefield 1 ?!
- Battlefield 2
- Battlefield 2142
- Battlefield: Bad Company
- Battlefield Heroes
- Battlefield 1943
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Battlefield 3
- Battlefield 4
- Battlefield Hardline
- Battlefield 1 ?!

You kept popping up on Steam. I'm like "BF2?"
Battlefield 1 taking place in World War 1
Dice/EA Better not fuck it up and make it a battlefield version of Call of Duty World at War(not that that was a terrible game, just hated all the ridicules attachments, such as dot sights, to make it feel like cod4)

The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
less than walking pace or they should be.
What about the smaller ones? Weren't those a little faster?coke wrote:

The Renault FT, which could perhaps manage 5mph at a push on a road.War Man wrote:

I suppose though there could be some armoured cars like the Rolls Royce and they can do like 40 odd mph, they would be an interesting inclusion.
I wanna see the Russian Tsar Tank.

Also, don't forget fake horse carcasses:
And while we're at it, horse gas masks:
And I wonder how they will implement the horrors of poison gas and blistering of the skin and blindly walking in queues and sinking in the mud.
Will there by a dynamic wind and weather system so you need to make sure that the gas cloud doesn't get blown back to your trench?
looks shite and it will be shite.
modern/future settings aren't the problem with FPS games. something fundamental has changed in the engines and movement/physics mechanics. nothing feels snappy and responsive anymore. there's no quake-style agility or engrossing twitch play. call of duty 1/2 was a phenomenal game whatever the maps or weapon skins.

I will buy it on discount if and only if it has a new version of Strike at Karkand.

Christ there have been a lot of Battlefields. And here I am having not played any since BF2.
Wake was the least fun map in the game. If you let the wrong person get the jet in the first 30 seconds, your team was going to get raped for another 30 minutes.War Man wrote:

Do not recommend.
They should just do an American Civil War or Napoleonic bf. Everyone stands in a row and fires their musket. Twitch skills come into play on the reload. Sounds about as fun as this one will be
"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

Maybe this will be like x|x 24/7 Brecourt RIFLES ONLY!!one! x|x
Are we going to discuss how this game is apparently designed around x-box 1? what happened to this series?

It went down the shitter long ago, no need to discuss it in all honesty.

The joke there is that going back to WWI would make you rely largely on bolt actions rifles, and as such it would be reminiscent of early CoD multiplayer maps, along with the awful color schemes you saw in the server browsercowami wrote:
