noice. should i replace my version with exchange? i have a bukkit build 1.7.2 or so. . .
i'll save it before i do anything - what i'd like to keep is Bukkit, and it died sometime around 1.7.2 or so.RTHKI wrote:
<3 exchange. might play it if you brought it back. but id like the save of your map.
maybe i'll do a poll. my server can host one world with about 15 connections;
raw survival, no frills, do it fgt
I'd prefer raw survival without any cheating as well.
IIRC, back then there was shopping center with automatic sliding doors, which had dozens of chests, filled with unreal amounts of diamonds and gold.
And the amount of railways also looked like they weren't created by mining.

Is my tower and farm still there?

Been a bit since I've been on this. I ran out of stuff to do after I automated everything I possibly could, and beyond that point found I preferred making small, cozy structures to castles or labyrinthine compounds. But sadly, cottages can be completed relatively quickly.
Unfortunately, the laser door doesn't actually cut you in half if you try to walk through it.
Playing Subnautica now. Game completely stole my heart when I was chased to my life raft by blood-sucking eels.

bro
I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but what's the fun in playing a game that is basically super-time consuming lego? I mean...what do you get from it? Teamwork? Challenge? Competitive play? All I see is people building structures that A.) look like dick and B.) take months.
What gives?
What gives?
Think of it more as a hobby than a game. Some people like building furniture when there is perfectly good furniture available for purchase at the store. Some people like playing Minecraft. Nearest equivalent is SimCity with the disasters turned off.Pocshy2.0 wrote:

Hopefully the Tog Biodome still stands tall and proud as a beacon of hope for all Exhangeites, young and old
All of the above, really, in addition to being an easy outlet for your creative bug. Exploration is another strong draw for me, as I wander around looking for that perfect witch hut bay to set up shop. Also, the game can look wonderful with GLSL shaders and a texture pack, even if it's in the form of 1 cubic meter blocks.Pocshy2.0 wrote:

Does that make more sense? Of course, taking primitive blocks and spending a good several weekends building something that looks decent with them isn't everyone's cup of tea. Contending with survival mode can help with that.
Holy shit, that's the kind of stuff I need on mine. All I did was use 32x32 or 64x64 versions of the default textures.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

I guess I can understand the joy in building something with your own effort and the creative ability that takes. I think it's just really the kind of thing that's not for me.
Yeah, it's really not for everyone. I tried getting a friend into it and he said he needed a clear objective with a set finish point, as well as some action. So he resorted to blowing people's shit up
Gameplay can really vary from server to server depending on any number of mods, server rules, and competitive minigames. Ultimately it's just one of those games you don't know you'll like unless you try it or already like creative games.
Shaders can make a world of difference, texture pack or no. It used to be a bit of a pain to set up with all the other mods I had going (map and custom readout GUI), but it was worth it.
I've been able to run 128x128 texture packs, but it can bog down near entity-intensive farms. Here's some shots from my own folder (I don't remember which texture packs were used), from private worlds and various servers:mtb0minime wrote:

i've been reluctant to leave behind Bukkit. The last working version i have installed is 1.7.4, and Bukkit is no more . . .
